Geez -- never know what a girl is gonna wake up to these daze -- in my mentickal hospitickal haze, I sees we have www.lymeknit.squirrel, wackywackywacky.lymenutsy.hulasquirrel, and whackywhackywhacky.lymeshot.no-squirrel. Hey, it's squirrel TV!

Jill, maybe instead of We are the World, it's We are the Squirreled.

Acorn, who was it on Saturday nite chat who said her kid enjoys looking at supersquirrel? Maybe you should let them know about the activity here...

Ok, Charlie and the LymeGals, what do squirrels do best? They like...NUTS! Think nuts. Feed your squirrel.

NUTS for 200: Lymie thoracic involvement. There, new squirrel TV high-definition.

Robin (AKA "Nutty Professor")

I'm totally stumped by the Jeopardy for 200 category.

I keep thinking "Stiff Neck" "Crackling Neck Sounds" but nothing ties in with Nuts, except "Nutcracker' which makes no sense.

So far I like MagicAcorn's "Acorniated Disk" the best.

Are we all in brain fog?

Do we all forfeit this round?

Maybe Micul will come back to the "peanut gallery" and have the answer.

Well, I'm sure MagicAcorn will have an appropriate photo of a squirrel deep in thought to inspire us!

Jill E. I called one of my smarter friends named Mervin. He's working on it. If anyone can guess the Jeopardy answer he can because he is a real nutcase but I mean that in a good way.

Gee, I wish someone would have told that expensive neurologist I saw in L.A. years ago after a car accident. He said my nerve numbness/muscle pain was thoracic outlet syndrome - basically whiplash.

I hope Robin gives us another clue or MagicAcorn's nutty smart friend comes in with the answer - either that, or the Jeopardy music is going to run out soon!

I must agree with the doc as he is a doc, you know. The cervical spine is the neck area. Am I right Doc Dave? Tell me I know something.

Mervin and I whacked our brains and we've decided;

What is subnutsation (subluxation)?

I like the subnutsation. Since it brings in the chiropractice angle, perhaps, MagicAcorn, you have a photo of a squirrel getting an adjustment?

Of course I believe DocDave's knowledge of the thoracic area versus the snooty, high-priced neurologist I endured years ago.

After all, DocDave is not only our medical expert, he is our Charlie!!

MagicAcorn,

You can now add the honorary title of "Squirrel Graphics Archivist" to your many other accolades.

I have a CD or various squirrel photos I bought on eBay a long time ago - I'll have to look at it again, it's been a long time.

Have you ever seen how many squirrel fans are on eBay? I've gotten into quite a few bidding wars over squirrel jewelry, squirrel calendars, squirrel figures, etc.

I'll send you a PM when I find the link to a woman on eBay who does wildlife rehab, particularly squirrels. She photographs the squirrels and makes cards out of the photos. I've bought just about everything she has - they're great.

(DocDave, this post has probably confirmed that MagicAcorn and I need particularly long stays in the Mentickal Hospital).

yes you are correct cerivcal is neck
thoracic surgeons works on all major organs,
Anatomic Landmarks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is important to review the anatomy of the chest wall and thoracic cavity, as you will use anatomic landmarks to document the location of respiratory assessment findings.

The thoracic cavity is made up of 12 pairs of ribs that connect in the posterior thorax to the vertebral bodies of the spinal column. In the anterior thorax, the first 7 pairs of ribs are attached to the sternum or breastbone by cartilage. The lower 5 ribs do not attach to the sternum. The 8th, 9th, and 10th ribs are attached to each other by costal cartilage. The 11th and 12th ribs, known as ``floating ribs,'' are not attached in any way to the sternum; they move up and down in the anterior chest, allowing for full chest expansion.

Note the following structures on this diagram of the bony thoracic cage.

clavicle
sternal notch
manubrium of sternum
body of sternum
xiphoid process
costal angle
costal margin
12 pairs of ribs, including:
2nd costal cartilage
2nd interspace
7th interspace

The following diagram shows the anterior chest again, with the lobes of the lungs included. Various reference lines and angles are commonly used to identify respiratory findings. For example:

The angle of Louis (also called the sternal angle) is a useful place to start counting ribs, which helps localize a respiratory finding horizontally. If you find the sternal notch, walk your fingers down the manubrium a few centimeters until you feel a distinct bony ridge. This is the sternal angle. The 2nd rib is continuous with the sternal angle; slide your finger down to localize the 2nd intercostal space. The angle of Louis also marks the site of bifurcation of the trachea into the right and left main bronchi and corresponds with the upper border of the atria of the heart.
Reference lines help pinpoint findings vertically. For example, the major division ("fissure") between lobes in the anterior chest crosses the 5th rib in midaxillary line and terminates at the 6th rib in the midclavicular line.

Other terms used to document locations for chest physical assessment include:

Supraclavicular - above the clavicles
Infraclavicular - below the clavicles
Interscapular - between the scapulae
Infrascapular - below the scapulae
Bases of the lungs - the lowermost portions
Upper, middle, and lower lung fields

what is chestnut pains????

No, not chestnut pains - chest pains - but Robin wants us to come up with a Jeopardy solution that includes "Nuts" so the only thing I could think of was Chest-Nuts.

Robin needs to stop spending time on those much less important things (health, life, family, making a living) and let us know what the correct Jeopardy solution is! [Wink]

I am meeting my gluten-free dining group for dinner tonight. They know I have Lyme and are very supportive. But if I tell them we are trying to come up with Jeopardy solution that uses the word "nuts" because of the squirrel photos, I'm sure I'll be banned from the group.

lol all guesses and squirreltoon!!

We might all belong in a squirrel hospital at this point, for the nutty things we say and do...

Stymie, I think you definitely educated us about all things thoracic in your thoroughacic posting. Sounds medical to me -- dunno, maybe that part belongs back in Medical Info. They don't know what they're missin'...

Right now, in terms of the category for 400 - I got nuttin'.

Hey DocDave,

I didn't cheat! If you look at the posts, my post for Chest-Nuts was before yours. I thought in your post you were questioning my Chest-Nuts answer, so I was trying to explain later why I had come up with it.

(My original post is the one above the post that has the squirrel in the blue sweater leaning on a white chair). Only in Lymenuts would you find a squirrel in a sweater and somehow it seems normal!

OK, this game is now causing brain fog instead of relieving us from it. [bonk]

Hopefully, MagicAcorn will post the appropriate graphic of a squirrel with brain fog, or a squirrel playing a game (or being squirrely, as we say).

Stymie, looks like you missed Jill's earlier post. Consolation prize: you have the honor of qualifying the Lymenuts for Medical Info again.(Chest because...) You can contact Jennifer...

Gray Squirrel Song

Gray squirrel, gray squirrel,
shake your bushy tail.
Gray squirrel, gray squirrel,

Wrinkle up your little nose;

DocDave,

You and MagicAcorn are now neck-in-neck (tail-in-tail?) in terms of finding great squirrel photos.

If this thread doesn't prove to IDSA that Lyme can affect the brain, nuttin' will.

And thanks for posting the SquirrelStuff website. I have now bookmarked it as a favorite.

I thought I had found all the places to buy squirrel items, but I had overlooked this wonderful resource! I'll have to buy a second home to fit in all my squirrel stuff...so I guess I could call it the Nut House.

I can barely remember my name, how will I know if that squirrel has my number?

Let's all decide it is Robin. That's what she gets for not checking in this afternoon.

The Squirrel Stuff website has some funny t-shirts and sweatshirts. I particularly like the SqWarhol (squirrels in Andy Warhol-style graphics) and Planet of the Squirrel. I'd rather spend my money on that than on Rifampin.

In case anyone wonders what squirrels have to do with Lyme or Lymenuts, the CaliforniaLyme group has had some research posted that the gray squirrel is now the main carrier of Lyme ticks in Northern California.

I refuse to hold this against the squirrels. They are cute and I'm going to feed them anyway.

But it just proves that Lymenuts really belongs in the Medical category.

Jill for 600! A Brazilnut has Lyme...

How do we know we're all not typing squirrels here?

That squirrel cup -- number of nuts the squirrel found, number of hits it's gotten online? Hope it's not the number of ticks it harbors...

Didn't know CaliforniaLyme thinks that the gray squirrel is the lead tick carrier here. Someone should post the question in Medical Questions: What animal is considered the leading tick carrier in N. California? See Lymenuts pg 16 in General for answer!

We'll need to call a squirrel IDSA convention for Infected and Diseased Squirrels of America

Ok, moving on to our next squirrelly question:

NUTS FOR 800: [loco]

A Lymenut might have used this nutty container for a LUAT... [confused]

Trueblue,

You've added another great squirrel photo to our ever-growning collection!

Who would have guessed that there would be this connection between Lyme patients and squirrels - and no, don't say we are all squirrely!

If the Infected and Diseased Squirrel Association ever battled the Infectious Disease Society of America, I would bet on the squirrels winning every time. You can't outsmart a squirrel. Just watch one get into a bird feeder no matter what the obstacles.

True, that is an hysterical squirrel pic!

Cute answer -- I'll give it to you for 800.

Another possible answer is pee-can.

So, r-e--a---d----y or nut, our final nutty Lymenut jeopardy question, category NUTS(with all squirrel friends):

NUTS FOR 1000: [loco]

What is a Lymenut with attitude? [confused]

PS everyone -- (post squirrel) -- I am traveling down great yonder peninsula today(more land of squirrels). If I can get to an internet cafe, I can take a look at the answer action here. If not, I may not return here until later Tuesday. Just so you all don't get squirrelly in my absence. Anywho, it gives you lots of time to nutthink...

I can understand why Trueblue was confused and didn't realize you meant Coach straps with a capital "C" as in the brand name, rather than coach which could mean the coach section of an airplane or something.

This is why we need MagicAcorn to post a squirrel carrying a fashionable handbag.

I love Coach purses. Back when I used to travel, I'd always stop at a Coach outlet if there was on in that city.

Now, a Coach bag with a squirrel on it would be the ultimate fashion statement.

Dave, I just saw your post to the Mascara question in off-topic. Between mascara and Coach bags, I'm starting to worry about you. Are you trying to be an Angel yourself?

By the way, I'm totally stumped by the last Jeopardy question. Maybe that's why Robin left town, she knew it was a tough one and we might get upset.

Angel Jill

Oh Jill, I'd love a bag from Coach to go with my purse. My little purse only has room for a few peanuts and none of my girly squirrel cosmetics can fit in it. I need a nice big roomy bag so I can always be at my fashionable best.

Oh Doc Charlie can I have a Fendi Squirrel Bag instead as in Acorn Hollow they is the bomb. It just screams ME!

Oh my I forgot to answer the question. I have posted a picture of my brother here as he reminds me of the answer to today's question.

What is a Lymenut with attitude?

What is a toughnut.

Thanks for trying to explain the designer purse thing but I have never heard of any of them nor do I carry a purse. I've got a purple backpack from Target: there's room for everything, nuts included. [Smile]

What does 'sfyest' translate to? no wonder I don't get the designer things. [Wink]

MagicAcorn,

I am laughing out loud with this photo of the squirrel and the coin purse. Half-kiddingly, I always post that you will have the appropriate photo, not matter how bizarre, and you do!!

I was bothered quite some time ago when I found out that many makeup brushes are made out of squirrel hair. I certainly hope no squirrels are harmed, that it's just shedded fur.

So I think as we gather our squirrel Fendi purses, put in our makeup, we will use only non-squirrel makeup brushes.

If you want any tips on makeup, just ask DocDave who seems to have rare insights into this. He has been posting on the Mascara thread in Off Topic. We may have to do an intervention to keep our Charlie from becoming an Angel.

I'm back! from the land of SF bay area peninsula squirreldom.

Great pics and banter... [Smile]

Pursenally speaking, cute answers to the 1000 Lymenut Jeopardy question of what is a Lymenut with attitude!

Methinks Micul got a good answer with pist-off-io nut, so will award 1000 to Micul for his continued Lear jet trustfund.

My answer was 'pinon nut. A nut with opinions...

This could be a tricky answer alright, so I will award 1/2 prize points of 500 each to Magic Acorn for toughnut and to Vermont for toasted nut and roasted lymenut.

Final score for the NUTS! round:

Magic Acorn -- 500
Vermont -- 500
Trueblue -- 800
Micul -- 1000
Jill -- 1200

Squirrels -- nuts, purses, make-up, peanut butter, hula hoops, squirrel shots, knitting, knitting glasses, vests, supersquirrel T-shirts, squirrel with a Big Number, squirrel bags, peanut purse, squirrel backpack

Stymie -- awarded Lymenuts mascara(lime-colored?) for his weekend evenings...

Way to go, all! [woohoo]

Charlie/Stymie/DocDave,

What adorable Valentine's squirrels. You keep coming up with more great websites for me to spend my money on buying squirrel stuff when I should be buying antibiotics.

eBay is a great source for squirrel stuff, too.

While we angels would be honored to be your Valentine, why are you saying you don't have one? I thought things had worked out with Mrs. DocDave. But she must be a squirrel lover in order to be allowed into our inner circle.

Angel J.

Dear Charlene: we'll be Valenticks...

Now we know why Jill's recovery has been delayed. Make sure you let your doctor know, Jill...They could prescribe you an Rx for Rodent Addicts Anonymous. And maybe one for the rest of us, too [loco]

Ok dokey, back to the serious business of the Lymenuts...

How about some names for sick countries? I posted the list that I'm aware of, about halfway down page 15...

You can use tick/Lyme/herx/co vocab.

Suggesting 5 entries at a time. You will win points towards qualifying for the International Lymenuts Society. Plus you will win points towards receiving a Lyme squirrel in the mail from your chosen sick country...

I start:

1) Herxmany
2) Englymed
3) Espanaplasma
4) Co-atia
5) Portickgal

There -- 5 points towards a squirrel and a membership in the ILS. [Big Grin]

Our dear MagicAcorn needs our prayers for her son who is facing surgery.

Please see her other post in General Support.

Let's give her a big Lymenut/SquirrelLovers hug.

[group hug]
