Good evening all,
As many of you may know, our Trails has undergone a tremendous amount of surgical procedure. There have been numerous complications involved, one after another, unending it seems at times.
She is once again in the hospital tonight, and I would like to ask for your help.
Without giving too much detail, we are just trying to hang on for the next procedure on Wednesday. The pain has been uncontrollable despite all efforts.
Any and all well wishes, prayers, good thoughts, and other strength that you can send this way would so be appreciated right now.
Thank you so very much in advance, Melanie

Thank you each so very much for your replies. They are more meaningful than you will ever know.
Out of the last 13 days, I have spent 9 with Trails and her partner doing what I can to help. We are each exhausted and depleted, so your combined strength, prayers and concern are sustaining us right now.
Last night, when I spoke with her again, the oncology unit in the hospital was trying so hard to find new medication that would help with the continuous pain that has been unrelenting for over 4 weeks now. She did sound better overall then, but today's plans are still not finalized.
I have offered a few times for her to stay here with me until the next procedure on Wednesday. That way, she will not have to make the long drive home just to turn around on Tuesday to come back again, and someone can be with her at all times. If the hospital will not keep her, I still think this is the best option, but of course, it is up to her.
I'll try to keep you updated as I am able.
Azure, True, Geneal, Bea, Jill, Toots and Can't, Thank you each for your steadfast support and well wishes. I will be certain to pass each of them on.
Doc, That was particularly beautiful, and reading it brought a new wave of tears. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
To those of you behind the scenes brainstorming, researching, making calls, sending emails, prayers and love to help us, words just are so inadequate to truly express my deepest appreciation
Much love, M

Anyone have an address of the hospital that Trails is at? Can we send her a card there?? We she be staying at the same hospital after her surgery on Wednesday? Or is it an outpatient surgery?

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this.
Trails, I had wondered why we weren't seeing you around LymeNet, and why you weren't showing up at chat on Saturday evenings.
I had so hoped that this last surgery would be the one that set everything right. I am thinking of you and praying for you.

AN EVENING PRAYER: (excerpts from the traditional ritual)
Praised are You, God, our God, Ruler of the universe, who closes my eyes in sleep, my eyelids in slumber.
May it be Your will, God, My God and the God of my ancestors, Who Closes My Eyes...: A Blessing at Bedtime
to lie me down in peace and then to raise me up in peace.
Let no disturbing thoughts upset me, no evil dreams nor troubling fantasies.
May my bed be complete and whole in Your sight.
Grant me light so that I do not sleep the sleep of death, for it is You who illumines and enlightens.
Praised are You, God, whose majesty gives light to the universe.

Dearest Friends,
Please forgive me for taking so long to get back to you.
Thank you each so very much for your continued well wishes and words of support and strength...they are much appreciated as always.
I am afraid that the Wednesday procedure did not go as expected, and Trails ended up back in another hospital afterwards.
She and her partner headed back home Thursday morning, and I have had a few emails from her since. Sadly, the pain is still there and is still excruciating, but somehow, the Wednesday experience allowed our Trails to find her fighting spirit once again.
She is making plans for other possible procedures that may help, so, the quest continues.
I am hoping that she will come on here to give you updates and/or whatever details she may want to share soon. Until then, may I ask that you continue to hold her close in your thoughts and prayers?
With much love and gratitude, Melanie

How can I express my thoughts and gratitude to every single one of you? I can not. Each time I have visited and looked at all the prayers and thoughts and well wishes I cry my little eyes out.
I have not wanted to reply because I continue to not do well, and I really dont like disappointing everyone. It gets old saying things are bad--and no one knows this better than you guys. especially those who have struggled for so long.
In a nutshell---that's for you acorn---I have some sort of nerve damage that has occurred in my genitofemoral nerve. This pain has decreased some --maybe due to lyrica--which is like neurontin on viagra.
But whatever ground I gained by not moaning and crying all day with the nerve pain, I have lost due to abdominal adhesions. I am now having intermitten bowel obstruction from the adhesions. I have had this previously. I am no stragner to the symptoms of serious adhesions. It is aweful.
I will need more surgery with an out-of-network (read: BIG BUCKS AGAIN) surgeon who does a good job getting the adhesions down. but if any of you know about this you know the cure is also the cause---surgery is the only way to deal with adhesions and it creates more.
My ureteral problem is "fixed" for now. so that is a good news. But even that is a mixed blessing--because since it is fixed, but my pain is new and NOT fixed, I fall through the cracks and no doc can help me.
That's the update. Sorry it is so depressing.
I am so in awe at the care, compassion and loving kindness shown towards me here. Please know that it does not go un-noticed.
my best to everyone, trails
