Posted this on Medical thread too...not sure where it should go...

I need some advice. I've been on antibiotics for over a month and Dr. just upped my dose again. I've been having mostly awful days and some good ones sprinkled in...every symptom seems to be flaring up and it doesn't want to settle down.
I've always been active and I've been trying to keep up with walking/camping/biking etc. All of the things we do in the summer.

Now cub scout camp is coming up this week and I'm supposed to go with my 9 yr old. I've been telling myself I should "suck it up" and go...I think I'd be wimping out if I didn't go. But I'm tired and my right leg is giving me nerve problems again (#1 symptom). So...am I really hurting myself by trying to keep up? or is this just the way it's going to be and I should quit complaining and get on with it?

My Dr. hasn't said anything about diet, exercise etc. I have to decide by Sunday so I can't talk to him before I go.

Any advice? I would feel awful if my son had to miss camp but if I'm really harming my chances of ever recovering I don't want to risk it. He won't go without me so it's all or nothing. [Frown]

pammy, what a dilemna!!

so giving you my frank opinion; it's DON'T GO! it's not worth being bitten again and with other diseases the ticks carry.

also, if your son is bitten; you'd give your self a guilt trip.

you need to care for yourself now and treat it aggressive. when you are finally BETTER, resume the active life you once had before lyme.

sorry for being a wet blanket; but in 4 years of reading here; i've read some really horror stories! it's not worth it.

you're feeling bad enough as is; your leg wasn't working right. best wishes.

do it next year when you are feeling better. [group hug] [kiss]

some folks have been reinfected 2-3 times! their posts are on this board also.

That is a conundrum. [dizzy]

It may give you a small set back...all of that activity may make you wish you hadn't gone. [Frown]

However, as a Mom, I've perservered through many an activity for my children.

Even though both of my children have Lyme, I want their lives to be as "normal" as possible.

I don't remember how I got through some of these events, I just did.

As for a set back. Minor as far as the big picture. I am almost 2 years into treatment.

A few days worth of feeling like dirt. [Frown]

My children's joy was reward for that.

That being said, if you go, make sure you take full tick precautions.

Or drive yourself. That way you always have a "way out".

I guess for me, I am tired of telling my children that "Mommy just doens't feel good".

I do pick and choose my activities though.

Maybe take him somewhere else as a compromise.

Chuck-E-Cheeses.....or something.

Take him out to dinner. (Big thing in my house [Smile] )

Hope you find the right answer for yourself.

Hugs,

Geneal

Thanks for the advice...

Everyone has a different opinion. Too bad it's not a black and white question, I hate these "gray" areas.

I've pretty much decided to go and make some "adjustments".

Not go swimming [Frown]

Sleep in my own tent - boys just don't sleep at camp I've found.

Leave the last night after the "festivities" so I can sleep in my own bed and sleep in.

Regarding the ticks...this area of WI isn't a "hot spot" for ticks. I went last year and no one had any in our group. I know that's not foolproof but it eases my mind a little.

When we go to Western WI (both our parents are there) at least one of us gets a tick! You pretty much step out of your car and there's a tick on you! [bonk]
