LOL at the "no boobs" - I resemble that remark. Add to it the lovely acne and it's' no wonder people think I am younger than I am. As long as I keep the cellulite and stretch marks hidden I can pass myself off 10 years younger.

ha. ditto to the boobs comment...

in regards to the acne stuff...
I always have a breakout on my right cheek.

I have a friend who's a microscopist who is obsessed about lyme. he told me that one of the pathways for Lyme to enter the brain

is via the trigeminal nerve.

one of the branches of the trigeminal nerve is exactly where i'm ALWAYS broken out.

... so all these years, come to think they've been 'leaving crumbs' so to speak on where they've been/are

...all get random breakouts along my carotids, which apparently (?) means something too..

anway, didn't mean to side track off of the young thing. sorry [Frown]

...but yea.. me = no boobs [shake]

Hope everyone's having a 'feeling better than usual' day.

here's a little guy to cheer you up: [woohoo]

...sorry, a little wired tonight, not sure why....

Most people I know with lyme, are adventourous, and try to live life to the fullest. I guess, I'm not surprised!

Same here, I always say " If I only moved as good as I looked " and Greeneyes' that was such a intresting story about the Trigeminal nerve, I also have TN and break out om my right chin but I was told it is related to the herpies virus and my face rash is more like that than pimples.

alrighty,

So i'm taking a microbial metabolism class...

today we were talking about the electron transport chain and how oxygen sometimes leaks through the membrane ... oxygen radical is released...

These 'radicals' are what are thought to cause aging.

So my newest hypothesis is that maybe the spiro's are able to use those oxygen radicals to their benefit, thus releiving us lymies of aging due to the radicals.

I asked my professor if there would be any reason for a bacteria to benefit from free radicals;

he named a bacteria recently studied with gamma radiation. it apparently uses the radicals as energy.

...Interesting. Maybe I'll e-mail Dr. M and see what he thinks [Smile]

anyway, just another thing to think about.

Hope everyone's feeling well today

Well, I'll be darn. Something possitive? I look really young for my age. Everyone always thinks I'm in my 20's. Young guys hit on me a lot.

It use to offend me as I felt I could almost be their mother.. Then a friend pointed out I should be flattered... Good game, fibro fog.

I just turned 38, and here's to 40 which is right around the corner.

Cheers!

LOL! This is really something.

I have always been told I look much younger than I am. It sounds crazy, but I'm almost 53 and people think I am in my late 30's.

Until this thread I never thought much about it. I just figured people couldn't see very well. [Wink]

Lyme the fountain of youth...???

Just an illusion. Youth involves so much more than looking younger.

I don't think looking younger is of any help if I feel like I'm 110.

I think it's actually others who look older from some harsh lifestyles. My youthful appearance is from eating good food and not smoking, drinking or wearing a ton of make-up.

Still, this looking younger or "you don't LOOK sick" is just another cruel way that the illness masks the truth from others who don't have clue.

I find the same thing. I am 29 and have been mistaken for 24. Its weird because when i was 24 I was told I looked 26. That being said I was living a party lifestyle at the time.

My theory is its the diet and supplement programs we have to follow. Since I began all of these lifestyle changes my skin and complexion and pretty much every part of me has seen the benefits.

Unfortunately it does hide the underlying inflammatory issues that cause my symptoms.

I think anyone following Dr B's diet and supplement guidelines would see massive changes in their appearance.

I'm going to be 30 this year and get carded when I buy scratch tickets!!! Seriously??? I'm toting around 3 kids! You'd think that would tell them something!

Fun though! [Smile]

But I will say the sad part is I feel like I'm 90!

Add me to the list.

When I was in college the second time (in my mid 20's), the people I hung out with thoought I was in my 30s, and they wondered why I liked hanging out with them.

Now in the past 5-10 years, people have said I look younger than I am (I don't have a diagnosis yet, and don't know when I might have been infected).

One of my high school classmates commented onthe fact that everyone else in our class has aged, but I haven't (no visible wrinkles, etc.), and she wondered why.

Gee, should I tell her it's my new anti-aging routine? Go out and get bitten once every spring?

Lol, because of all the weight I've lost too, I've had people ask what my secret is. I tell them it's the 'keets.

My daughter w/ Lyme is 21, but whenever we go to a doctor appt., before reading her chart, the Dr. will usually say something like, "Oh, so how old are you sweetie, 15, 16??"...or, "You must be so sad to be missing high school, what grade are you in?"

She definitely doesn't appreciate it, but I have to agree, she looks the same age as her younger sister sometimes, who is 14. [Smile]

I get the same thing. I am constantly mistaken for 18-22. I will be 29 this year. I just thought it was good genes because my mom is 47 and everyone thinks she is my sister. Of course, she eats that right up. Ha, who wouldnt?

So why am I the only one who has developed alligator skin?!! (Mostly on my arms.) I've been
trying to figure that out.

I've read lyme likes collagen. Could that be it? And can I get it back?

Okay I need to get in on this conversation. I'm 24 and people always think that I am way younger than that.

But what us all this about having to eat bland and avoid sugars and things? So far no one has instructed me at all on my diet and Lyme. Infact I had lost 65 pounds back in 2006 through a lot of hard work, once I got lYME in '08 I was so exhausted and couldn't exercise anymore, then I started eating horribly because the bursts of sugar and carbs made me feel better for a little bit, so now I have gained back 45 of the 65 I had lost. Any suggestions on what to do about all taht and how I should be eating?

Danielle
