Ok so while we sit and wait for HR1179 to pass lets open some eyes. If everyone with lyme or who knows someone with lyme ties a lyme green ribbon around a tree or two, it will be just a matter of time that questions are being asked. We need to bring attention to this pandemic and find a cure. Everyone with a lyme green ribbon is helping to get that cure! Spread the word to your friends. I did my yard today and the neighborhood tomorrow. i bought lime green fabric and cut into strips. I've done my yard now the neighborhood. Good luck for us all.... this is only phase 1 of my idea. Trish

Tie a greenish ribbon 'round the ol' oak tree
It's been 3 long years since that tick bit me
If I don't see a ribbon around the ol' oak tree
I'll stay on the bus, foget about us,
Trust Infectious Disease,
If I don't see a greenish ribbon 'round the old oak tree.
Sorry I couldn't resist. That is for some of us mature
Individuals who remember Tony Orlando and Dawn.
I think it is a great idea.
I live in the country, but would like to do that at our
Neighborhood store and area.
Hugs,
Geneal

How about everyone putting a candle in the window with a green light bulb starting lyme awareness month?

The green light in the window sounds great too. I think if its lyme green and visual people will ask questions and know this pandemic is where the live. Be well, Blessing, Trish

I'm so glad to see someone wanting to actually DO something about raising Lyme awareness rather than just talking about it. Too often on this site I will see a member come up with a very good idea for raising awareness only to have it subsequently crushed or written off for whatever reason.
I will definitely be investing in some green ribbon for my area. Thanks for the great idea!

Geneal--great song lyrics. I remember that song.
I like the ribbons around the tree idea. We don't have trees, so maybe I'll do the mailbox.
I also plan to go out and get lime green ribbon to make lapel ribbons to hand out for Lyme Awareness month.
Maybe I'll get me a lime green T-shirt too and put some cute & clever saying on it--maybe a take-off of the Ghosstbusters "He slimed me"--"He LYMED me!"

I can't wait to hear people start saying they are seeing green ribbons on trees all over the country!!!
Trish, this is a perfect press item, even if you start small with the Sturbridge Villager and Southbridge News, and try to get the Telegram...they can photograph you and Brian tying a ribbon around a tree......
You can really get some mileage out of this fantastic idea of yours!!!!

Tracy I'm praying for you and I will take this as far as I can. I've burnt myself out a bit but I'm still online working. Gotta get up my energy for phase 2 project which will be awesome! I met a lymmie in Charlton who will help when I need. NATCAPLYME has asked for my ideas and Turn the Corner Foundation loves my idea. Crossing my fingers I start seeing more green. blessings

I love this idea. A couple years ago I tried to get everyone to have a "Lyme Day", where we all put signs in our yards and handed out flyers from our own yards about lyme. But I dont have energy to follow up anything I start But this would be so easy. Is anyone doing this already? If we could all somehow pick a day to start this and everyone could promote it in their own towns, it would be awesome!

yes, they are doing it now. We are keeping ribbons and signs up until we get a cure! ITs happening now. Blesings

Is there really a lyme awareness month? Sorry if
that's a stupid question, but I'm new to this
whole lyme thing.

Until I got lyme, I never new what a horrible thing it was to get
and I never realized how many people it afflicts
I will definately be spreading the awareness.
