Hi everyone,

My LLMD recently gave me the thumbs up to try to conceive.

I have been in treatment for 1 1/2 years now and am doing quite well.

My first child was born with lyme and coinfections. I didn't know I had lyme when I was pregnant/nursing him and was never treated for lyme.

He is now 2 1/2 and doing very well with treatment.

After my lyme diagnosis, I was very depressed because I assumed I could never have another child without passing the infection to the baby.

After MUCH research on the topic of lyme and pregnancy, I finally determined that it is absolutely okay to have a baby after lyme.

I know there are many of you out there who will be critical of my decision.

However, I am putting my story out there for all those women on lymenet who hope to someday have a baby after they are better from lyme.

I know that this topic would be discussed much more often on this site if women weren't worried about being judged.

So, for those of you out there who would like to someday have a child, I plan on keeping everyone updated of my progress.

That is wonderful news! [woohoo]

I applaud you for not letting this dang disease keep you from having the family you've dreamed of.

Are you planning to take amoxycillin while pregnant?

I hope things go well for your family!

Thanks everybody. Lymetoo, yes, I'm planning on taking amoxicilin during the pregnancy and maybe zithromax, as well.

I say, GO FOR IT! I have 2 beautiful, healthy, Lyme-free children and am pregnant with #3. The best thing I have ever done is not let this disease stop me from having my family that I always dreamt of, because my children are everything to me.

HOWEVER, while I don't condone every Lyme patient running out and getting pregnant and throwing caution to the wind, I do think that educating yourself and working with good doctors to ensure your health and your baby's can yield very positive and encouraging results. I wish you the best- trying for babies is such an exciting time!

Hi 2boysmama,

Thank you so much for your encouragment.

Did you know you had lyme before you got pregnant with your two children?

Were you treated during the pregnancies?

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thank you for sharing, 2boysmama.

If you don't mind me asking, how much better from your worst were you feeling when you conceived? Were you completely better, mostly better, 50% better, etc?

And I would also be interested in hearing what antibiotics you took during the pregnancies, and if you breastfed.

Thank you so much! I would love to be trying for a baby right now! But I still have a little more time until I'm ready health-wise unfortunately. [Smile]
