I used to ride my bike everyday for exercise, but now that aerobic exercise is a no-no, I need to think of other things that will help keep the weight off and keep me healthy. Any ideas on some exercises that are safe for us? What do you do for exercise?

Gentle weight lifting--use light weights with more reps, so you don't get too fatigued. Even when I didn't have Lyme, I got fatigued from doing a few reps of the highest weight I could lift each time, although my condition improved rapidly.
Don't lift weights every day, but you can probably do a little slow and gentle stretching like yoga or tai chi, etc.
If you exercise very much, it can have a negative effect on your immune system for a few hours or a day afterwards, so you need at least a day to recover from the effects.
If you have joint and muscle pain, someplace near you may have a heated exercise pool that might feel good.
I am not doing anything right now, mostly because I sleep so much when I'm not working, and feel lethargic the rest of the time. But these are the things I used to do and mean to do again when I can motivate myself to start up.
I know we are not supposed to do aerobic exercise, but possibly using a rowing machine or recumbent bike very slowly could help if you want to move in a no-impact way and be close to the ground where you won't risk falling. Maybe stretching is just as good, though.

I went from being active to not being able to get out of bed in 2001.
I have yet to figure out a routine for exercising but am getting there.
I really enjoy the therapy pool at physical therapy and walking in the forest when able.
Walk 5 min, rest on a rock and then walk out.
You will find what works for you but be patient with yourself.
I agree with Tutu...when I saw the subject line I wanted to let you know about the moving the body thread.
Weight wise....although I am moving the body more the weight has increased.
I assume it is due to the gabapentin I am taking to help me move the body more. Catch 22.

for exercise I am 'watching' the FIFA world cup soccer.
It makes my eyes so weary from going back and forth it puts me to sleep
Now two birds with one rock works fine here,,,both exercise and a nap all rolled into one.

I was running, but I threw my back out a couple of months ago doing it so that;s out.
Now I lift weights (carefully, lots of machines) and do the elipticle machine.

I just got a Wii Fit on the advice of someone on this board and BOY is it fun!
Physical games, balance, walking, step, hula hoop, rhythm boxing, kung fu, yoga, etc.
We all try to outdo one another's scores.
Very easy to very challenging. I highly recomend it.

NYSoL, Riding a bicycle for 30 minutes to an hour is not only fine, but was a preferred regiment for a fellow i know from NYC who was on heavy abx (for Lyme) for a year and a half, several years ago. He's currently doing Quite well.
Rowing or kayaking (preferred by me) helps work out the top 1/2 of the body while brisk walking & biking primarily the lower. The Key is to go slow & not push too hard. You don't want to get out of breath, rather just get your pulse rate up & your system revved up some.
I Started with 15-minute liesurely trips, over relatively flat country road every 2 tbo 3 days.
When they say no aerobics, they mean no real "workouts". (Not for awhile, anyhow. )
