I think we could all use a bit of inspiration and hope, especially around the holidays.
This is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite groups---Queen. The lead singer, Freddie Mercury was a victim of AIDS during the 80s who died in 1991 b/c of it.
I find this song and its lyrics so appropriate and meaningful to those of us fighting LD.
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face But I've come through
We are the champions, my friends And we'll keep on fighting - till the end
We are the champions We are the champions
No time for losers Cause we are the champions - of the world
I've taken my bows And my curtain calls
You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it
I thank you all
But it's been no bed of roses No pleasure cruise -
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race And I aint gonna lose -
We are the champions - my friends And we'll keep on fighting - till the end
We are the champions We are the champions
No time for losers Cause we are the champions - of the world

Thanks for posting this Alana. It was great and enjoyed listening. In fact I ended up listening to a lot of Queens songs from u Tube and it kept me entertained for a few hours in the middle of the night since I couldn't sleep.
I also was reading about the love story between Freddie Mercury and Mary Austin, even though he ended up in the gay ifestyle. He ultimately left her most of his estate.
Really enjoyed it. We need all the encouragement we can get.
Thanks Again,
Gael

I wonder if we should try to find someone to design and fabricate a large pin, like a medal of some kind, which would say champion or some such thing. It could be sold for a nominal amount with the proceeds exceeding the cost of making it going to a lyme organization.
Something we could wear around the house when we are feeling bad, to cheer us up, remind us that to have survived this far against such opposition is heroic.

jlp38---so many of us know these lyrics by heart. It dawned on me that they applied to me. Glad to hear that you found they applied to you as well.
Remember to Smile---yes, i agree---what a great song to use at a Lyme rally.
Gael, you're welcome. Queen is a blast from the past. I was re-entertained by watching the utube video of this song. Thankfully I am not as insomniacal (is that a word?) lately, but I can sure appreciate you being entertained by their utube videos when you couldn't sleep.
I wasn't aware of a love story between Freddie and Mary Austin. I will check it out though. Freddie Mercury was one of the most talented artists in our lifetime. I wonder how he is regarded these days.
Lou, what a great idea. I know there are some here who sell their designs through etsy (I think that's the name of the site)
It would be awesome if someone could come up with a design for a pendant/pin incorporating the concept of champion with LD and make it marketable with a good portion of the proceeds dedicated to Lyme research.
And maybe there could be another item geared directly to those who are ill/as you say "to wear around the house when we are feeling bad, to cheer us up, remind us that to have survived this far against such opposition is heroic."
So you creative people here, any ideas?

Maybe someone should contact CALDA, see if they are interested in this as a fundraising device.
