I was feeling pretty good about my progress until doing more reading here over the past week. I had viewed my success at finding a good doctor the key to a full recovery. Over the past 7 months Lyme had robbed me of my ability to think. I walked through days like a zombie. After 8 days on antibiotics most of my symptoms began to lift with the exception of constant ringing in one ear.
Compared to my old self, my mind is now functioning at about a 7 out of 10 with Some days better than others. I am thrilled about this because I had feared the next step would be unemployment.
I would be interested in hearing about other peoples experiences to get a feel for what I might expect longer term. It sounds like the full recovery that I had hoped for might be wishful thinking.

If you are already experiencing improvement, there is every reason to anticipate a full recovery.
Try not to put a time line on it. Each case is different that way.
Be proactive. Eat right, exercise and get appropriate rest.
Make sure your doc treats all your co-infections, and does not undertreat you.

There is a lot of hope.. especially since you are already seeing improvement. Some take a year or two years to see any improvement.

I have gotten some of my brain back with things that reduce inflammation and help hypercoagulation.
Systemic enzyme therapy Fish oil with high EPA Gotu Kola
The most dramatic improvement in my ability to think happened when I took Resveratrol as part of the Buhner Protocol.
Oh my, after years of brain fog, I had forgotten that I could think like that. I had a stack of things to take care of from the last six months, and I was able to do it, no sweat.
I was able to speak more coherently, starting a sentence and working out the composition in my mind as I spoke. Now I need to compose the sentence first, working it all out in my mind, and then speak it.
I was not able to stay on the Resveratrol, as I had awful kidney pain. Resveratrol reduces the glutamate in your brain.
Antibiotics can reduce inflammation, and the brain cells get more blood and oxygen. This means you can think more clearly.
So even though I'm not on antibiotics, I've been able to improve my brain function.
Your recovery may need more than just antibiotics.

There's a lot of crap out there to listen to but the basic story is that you have to keep killing bacteria.
Stay on your antibiotics. I take 9 day breaks sometimes so the immune system can see it too but basically my brain is 95% back on most days after almost 3 years. I think Dr. D of Mass was right all along. You don't have to go nuclear asault on your body with meds and you don't need to spend your life savings on herbs....just treat with antibiotics until you are better...even if it takes 4 years.

I had an abnormal brain MRI at the beginning with a few spots and signs of some atrophy. After 8 months of treatment, but Brain MRi was normal!
My brain spect is still abnormal, but is much improved.
Hang in there.
