I am just wondering if anyone has a really good insurance provider that pays for most of their lyme appointments, labs, meds ect...
I have TRICARE, my husband is in the military. I hate them!! I'm tired of the authorizations, the haven't paid for any lyme treatment although they do pay for labs/meds. I just wonder if there is a better insurance company out there that does all of this.

Mine is good, but I don't like to say online which one I have. You can PM me if you want to.

I'll chime in on one of the worst. UnitedHealthCare. They've been happy to take my 250/month premium and have denied EVERY claim past the 28 day treatment.

Each insurance company will vary by the coverage plan that the company you work for pays for.
My old husband's job had one of the higher ups with a family member who had Lyme, so while I was on that policy, they paid for all IV meds. That lasted for a year before we moved and he changed jobs.
Most insurance companies won't pay past 28 days of IV but will pay for orals. Depending on your coverage, that can still be a big copay.

Some plans pay for IV abx past 28 days if you have a coinfection. Mine were paid for 3 months because I also have Bartonella. We were told no time limit because of Bart, but we had to switch to UHC (they suck) and they wouldn't pay for any IV abx. The next six months were out of pocket.
UHC hasn't flinched at any of my oral abx though. I haven't gotten a bill for my last CD57 yet, so don't know if they'll give me a hard time. Time will tell.

- I think that is the biggest thing. You can have BC/BS and have horrible coverage and someone else can have it and it's great. The difference is which plan you have. Whether it's an upgraded one or a basic one.

Thanks for the input. Mine pays for labs and meds but does not cover any appointments which after 3 years at over $100 per month isn't cool.
Lymetoo, I'm going to send you a PM. Thanks everyone!!!

$100 an appointment is "cheap!" Why do you have to go every month though!? THEN it's NOT cheap!

Aetna PPO was the best - paid for everything without question.
Empire BC/BS PPO top notch plan - very $$$$$$. Will not cover Zythro beyond 5 days. Give me a break. Not too happy with them.

BCBS has been outstanding, but I have to echo what was said it depends on what BCBS plan your company is in..
