Kam posted this earlier today:
Hmm. Wondering how hiker is doing. Good to hear from manname and hubby.
Every day I think of going camping again. So, going to do what I can each day when able to get ready.
Things on my mind are: look into boxes that were pulled out of storage and see if I can't just put them back into storage.
I will need help getting them from the front room back into storage.
2. Fold the tent up and put in car.
3. Wash out the 2 gal jug.
4. Get food
5. Pack clothes
6. Check weather report as heat makes me worse so need to go when it isn't too hot.
7. Find something to put on tent floor to protect it from legs of cot and just plain old dirt and mud.
8. pack cooler
9. Pack dry goods
10. Pack kitchen bin
11. Lantern and flashlight are still in car so that is good
12. Eat and hydrate each day so I will be hopefully strong eough.
13. Et sleeping bags in car
14. Figure out what to do about a bed for Rosie...used old sleeping bag last time
15. Maybe I need to figure out what to do about covers for me. I have the heavy duty down sleeping bag but need something lighter too.
16. Pay rent, utilites, bills before going
17. Charge phone and power chair before going
18. Fill cat bowls
19. OK Brain is going
20. Pack meds/supps
21. Find toothbrush and toothpaste and mascara and lipstick .....not sure where they are...they have disappaired since last camping trip
22. Fill gas tank
23. Put handheld solitaire in car

Kam, going camping sounds like fun! It's been years since we have gone camping.
We used to have a pop-up camper when our oldest children were little. When it leaked too bad we sold it.

Thx ALW...good to know that they leak....I don't know what my future will hold but I would really like to camp across the US.
I tried to say a prayer via the keyboard on a prayer site when I first got up and the brain could barely type out a sentence or two.
Took 2 excedrin and was able to make this long list for camping.
It looks like that was my exercise for the day. Brain and body are fading fast now.

I am doing fine. Surgery went well Friday. I had to convince the surgeon not to give me any antibiotics. Am tired, but did walk 15 minutes today and do a few balance exercises.
I should get biopsy results later this week, although I am not too concerned.
I had wonderful friends who stayed with me through the surgery and than through the night at my house. My good buddy grocery shopped, made meals, did my yard work etc.
God is truly good.
Kam, I am not much of a camper, but I do like to travel. Follow your dreams!

hiker...glad to hear all went well.
I want to travel too....so traveling 20 miles out of town and setting up a tent to lay around on my cot is a treat for me
In my mind, I see myself traveling across the US someday.
I think a camper would be better though.

I'm so glad you had help and support, hiker!! Keep us posted, OK?
Kam.. yes, most campers eventually leak. We used to live in an RV. Even a good one will leak. Maybe not such a problem in Arizona though! (except during monsoons!)
We got our shopping done today. Hubby does not like shopping. I told him that another 39 yrs of this and he would have it down pat.
(I did all the shopping for the first 39 yrs!)

Plan for today. To make a grocery shopping list for new caregiver who comes tomorrow.
Hoping she is able to do more in 45 min at the grocery store than the old caregiver...who got so little done in an hour's time.
I also decided to just record when I am able to do something towards getting ready to go camping again.
The plan was to do a little each day but that doesn't work with how my health functions.
Diane Nyad is getting closer to making it this time. She was still in the waters at 7:30 am Cuba time?? or is it Florida Time??
She had 10 miles to go 8 hours or so ago.
I am pretty out of it this am. I was able to take Rosie out to the forest and let her stretch her legs.
I cut back on biaxin the past few days. Guessing I need to go back to taking 2 a day.
Another guy is hiking the appalachain trail and doing video's along the way. I'll post his name and video when able.
He did have lyme for 5 months before being dx if memory serves me correctly.

Walked 20 minutes today, but needed my trekking poles. Hauled out the hoses again to water. We are in a drought situation here.
I am not bouncing back energy wise from the surgery like I would have done 13 years ago when I had a similar surgery. Getting older and the Lyme and Co seems to have taken a toll.
I also cannot shake this respiratory virus that I have had for 2 weeks. A lot of people are getting it. Me neighbor has had it for three weeks. But, at least no fever.
Still, I will nap this afternoon and hope to be back in the classroom tomorrow.

I over did it this time. 30 min in the elec cart and then wtg in line which went fast this time.
Had help with getting groceries in car.
Put frig stuff away. Left non refrig stuff.
Feeling like tossing my cookies so hoping after laying here a bit, I will feel more human agin.
At this point, I don't know if any of the things I purchased will be going camping with me or not. I just know I have some fresh spring berry sald now to eat. Posts: 15927 | From Became too sick to work or do household chores in 2001. | Registered: Dec 2002

Hubby was able to go out to his office awhile this morning.
Was going to go out to the patio after lunch - turned around and came right back in again.
Wasn't feeling good - I saw him reach out towards the doorway to 'catch' himself, do I knew he's gotta lay down before he falls down.....

able to drive out to forest 3 miles away and park i shade. SEt up cot. AFter several tries, got the closed caption working on portable DVD player I charged from WM.
I dont' know when it was delivered...last month some time. But, this is the firest time I was doing well enough to unpack it and do a test run.
Still need to figure out how to turn the volume up and down..it shuts off when I use the volumn keys??
And I think the remote is not working because it needs a battery but I wasn't doing well enough to open that little compartment so more testing to do.
Movie also was very dark so hoping there is a way to lighten it up.
And I would like to try out some old ear phones I have.
Looking forward to go camping and having something to do while I am laying on the cot.
Wasn't able to stay out in the forest long this am. Too hot even in the shade.
Caregiver worked out well this am too...she put paper towels under the berries which is a good thing as they were leaking through their cartoons.
Little things I would think of doing but most caregivers don't leaving a mess for me to clean up.

glad you had a good caregiver today...my cleaning lady i found and pay myself has come 3 times and i really like her. she came early today and i wasnt ready and having bad day cuz i did too much yesterday and she handled me being at my worst and unorganized cuz she was so early...i am so glad i found her and really hope she stays for a long time. she has some personal problems that might get in the way and i also believe she has lyme that is being dx as other stuff and treated with steroids...she loves the steroids...but i know she may crash from them
it seems at least half of the helpers that come to the house have llyme sx and are not treated. the one with tick and bullseye still wants tx but cant get it.
so sad.
so-exercise wise i am very sore today from the gardenting i did yeserday but im glad i did it. i will be very happy in the spring when i cant see the junkyard and hopefully cant smell it as much and i will also see flowers instead
i did shower and it wore me out. i have been in the wc since then...hoping to continue organizing house and bills so i am ready for surg in 10 days

So sorry to hear how much you are struggling, kayak! Go easy on that tea, OK? You have to be able to function. Hoping and praying for a better day tomorrow!
kam.. glad you got to camp out a bit. Maybe it will get cool soon!
hiker.. keep plugging away at it and you will make it. Let us know if you got to teach today.
irupp.. what's your story? Glad to meet you!
manna.. hope those fantastic days come SOON!
I went to PT today and my PT is getting married this weekend, so I won't see her for a few weeks. I'm going to see my doctor Thursday and we will decide how much or what kind of therapy I need from this point.
My feet are better again...whew! Now we need to fix my sciatica or whatever it is. It's affecting my feet too.

Able to wash out igloo jug thsi am and fill up gas tank last night towards camping trip.
I am thinking if health co operates, I will drive to the campground in the evening and just set up the tent.
I'll leave everything else in the car.
Last time I unloaded every thing and ended up putting it back in the car that evening with the exception ofo kitchen stuff.
Put cooler in car and covered it because it is bear country but no bears spotted this summer so far..a mile or so down the road they had bears though.
I didn't use the camp stove...health wasn't doing well enough
Pressure in brain this am. Hoping that by going camping that pressure will not be there.
Still haven't figured out what causes it but I know the buzzing of the air conditioning units under my window and the sound the fan blowing in the apartment plus the ringing in my ears is too much.
I also wonder if it has something to do with the wifi and the computer and EMG stuff as there is a big dish across the street.
I know it is more thatn that.
sGetting up to get ice pack this am.
I think the caregiver thing is finally on the right track. I hope so. Time will tell.
But, caregiver came last Thursday and said she wasn't supposed to do anything unless it was to help me take a shower.
My health wasn't doing well enough to take a shower.
So sent email to mgr and overall magr telling her that the last caregiver company considered changing sheets, grocery shopping, picking up meds, meal prep etc as also personal care.
And that my health is inconsisitant. I was able to take a shower on Turesday when it was suppposed to be housekeeping chores and not on Thrus. So, hoping I don't have to list housekeeping chres on Tuesday and personal care on Thurs as I needed grocerieson Tuesday.
And my mind just can't deal wtih trying to seperate things.
I am rambling this am. I took a couple of excedrin. I am more wordy on it.
Eyes are cloased as I type.
Mosquitos were out in full force this am when I took Rosie to the forest.
I need to get her mosquito spray...she doens't want to stay in the forest when she is surrounded by mosquito's.
I use spray so I am OK although I still get bit somewhere...just not as bad as if I didn't have any spray on.
Hoping to kind of fold the tent up and get in the box and maybe take some other steps towards getting camp gear ready.
Goal is for Monday but I know I need to do what I can when I can and go when heath is doing well enough and try and not be too disappointed.

kam-that is exactly what happened to me with the care givers...over and over. at the end i had one and i kind of hinted i would rather she do a few things i couldnt do like bring me clothes from the dryer so i could fold them and do the dishes cuz my ribs still hurt so much.
she said she was fine with that and showed me on my care plan where the first nurse-i guess my case worker-said i could have that done. but others still refused and gave me a hard time.
what gets me is prepping for surgery i get upset and tell the doc not to send me home too soon and they-both of thm-just say oh-no promblem -you wil be taken care of ----but i am not. it was 3 days b4 a nurse got to me after the breast thing...and i was incontinet maybe from anesthsia...but i let my son clean up the floor and chair but not me and i was bloody by the time i got seen for the first time. tmi i know. but we're all friends and this part of the whole thing sucks.
so back to exercise...i did accomplish some paperwork progress from the wc yesterday and drank about 1/2 as much tea as b4. things were calming down and the whole house filled with strong scent of skunk. i really wondered if it was in the house. couldnt sleep where i usually do...so changed air machines to bedroom...where i am still trying to get rid of cat urine odor from previous owners. dog did not take to the move well...i dont think i slept til about 3. the smell did go away once i turned off ac that was bringing it in.
i am so tired tho and now i cant get on yahoo and my phone is messed up. i got warnings that my accounts are compromised...but cant figure how to fix it yet. phone has texts from france...cant stop that either. need a second phone to fix the cell...one step forward and 3 back...tired of this.
i went from sort of depressed about surg...to happey some problems were fixed...to oh no...where do i start now.
glad tutes feet are better. hope mannas hubby has some better days. wonder if irupp will be back...and ms kam...i hope you have fun in general but i have to not think about you with bears and skeeters etc...i have enough stress here...but go ahead...have fun

kayak and others hoping to read what you post soon....that part of the brain/vision is not working righ tnow.
Able to kind of fold up tent and put in box...more like squnch it into box as my days of getting on the floor and folding and rolling a tent are not a good idea right now.
Worked a bit on the kitchen supply bin too before brain/vision and body went.
Decided to put the boxes I got out of the storage unit back in as sorting thru them and downsizing is not happening.
Need my health to be doing well enough to hve someone here to help me bring boxes I use to the front and boxes I don't to the back and get bicycle back in.
I had some hooks at one time so I could hang bike from the ceiling of storage...not sure if that si still a good idea or not.
Tires are flat on bike and not sure I have the strength to get it off the bike hooks on the ceiling.
Still trying to figure out how to get it in the car strength wise or on my power chair lift and tie it down.
I think my legs will work but my arms are weak...I have seen some people with handle bars where they can rest their arms in some kind of thingamyjib while they are biking.
Low in the list but still hoping to take Rosie out to the forest and cruise around on the bike on the asphalt roads for 10 or 20 min.

Able to answer the phone this am at 7:30 when I noticed the call was from my primary doc.
Coughed and had trouble talking but got the msg.
Person from doc's office wanted to let me know that the doc was sorry about not getting to the paper work and she would be doing it today.
I assumed she was talking about the Cowden paper work and the student loan paper work.
praying the student loan paper work goes thru first so $200 a month will stop being taken out of my SSI.
Then I can pay the funds needed for the Cowden protocol.
This is a relief. It is something that has been on my mind daily for months now.

I worked like a dog all day and I am wasted. I made my batch of sauerkraut all by myself! My feet are now toast.
I did have a friend come and cut the cabbage for me. Then she left. I told her I could do it. (not exactly correct, but I did it!)
I will see my sports med Dr tomorrow for a follow-up and a game plan.
We have not done much as far as getting ready to move since hubby is subbing on another show right now. He has done a great job, I think! His "boss" on the other show saw it last night and said he did a "fabulous" job. I will get to see him Friday night!
kayak.. praying for you.. call me anytime.

Hot here but I am hoping it will be dropping 10 degrees soon.
I checked two websites this am as it seemed hotter than normal at 7 am.
Both websites that are local had a big difference in what they said the temp was.
One 62 The other 70 something
Felt like 80 something
I had a wall thermometer at one time but never go tthe temp right either.

the last 24 hrs have been a roller coaster-i came away from ettas trial day care with not good feelings...so today took her back to the one where she has a friend-and older -tiny yorkie named tiki. there are others there too...but the last 2 times she was there she came back limping and they told me they werent vets and couldnt be responsible if they didnt know she was limping...that was upsetting but the alternatives seem worse
so she is there now and i am waiting for workrs comp lawyer to call...and must prepare for hospital intake interview tomorrow morning for surg...and i should finish the taxes too...but we will see. im on tea again and falling asleep alot. so glad others on here helped with decision about son(in general)
also pick up house just a little...cuz it is trashed from last 24 hrs but clean underneath
the air has changed...feels so good but i might have to stay in ac if ragweed pollen is too bad. whe the wind comes off the ocean it pushes the pollen inland...and i can hang out there (pushes bugs in too) but i dont think it will come onshore before surg in a week
i guess i might walk around the yard-maybe try to see if there is a skunk hanging out here...but i wont so much. too tired. too many things i must do.
hope all are well. tutus feet and kams head and mannas hubbys energy...ak hasnt been back since she started thread. hope she is ok-i know it must be because of her sister. so sad.
take care. try to find happy thoughts.

Kayak.. Keep the faith. I do hope you and I can get our stupid taxes done soon. We both must get it done ASAP!!
Hope the daycare for Etta works out. I know it worries you.
I saw my sports med Dr today and we are both excited that I am getting better! I will have at least 6 more wks of PT. Now we will work on my hamstrings, which seem to be the biggest problem.
They DO AFFECT the pain level in my FEET! I have to find someone else to take me to appointments since my regular helper will be dog-sitting this month. I wish she could sit for Etta!!

Sometimes my health is not doing well enough to write the rent check. So, I just scribble my signature and put a check in the rent box.
the manager fills in the chceck for me. I learned yesterday that my rent went up $300.
Hoping to find the paper work for this. I think she is right. I think when the annual paper work was done she got it wrong awhile back.
But, it still puts a damper on things. I most likely will still go camping when able.
Campsite is $16.00 a night. But, I am feeling very sad. I have $200 left for the month for food, gas in car and utilites, etc.
I also was heading out to the forest 3 miles away twice a day lately too...am and evening.
It felt good to be out of the apartment.
I am still hoping I will have the funds to do this gas wise.
The car gets very poor gas mileage. I think I filled up 3 or 4 times last month.
All I did was drive the 3 miles to the forest and drive to the grocery store a mile away and drive the 20 miles to the campsite last month.
Cat therapy....cat wants back out...3rd or 4th time this am. In and out. In and out.
So getting up to do cat therapy.
and to get in the car and take Rosie out to the forest.
ON the positive side...I am so thankful for that car. It is good medicine.
And I am so thankful I have the forest in my backyard so to speak 3 miles away with boulders and pines and quiet.
Soon, that area will all be housing but for the past few years it has been a great place for Rosie and I to go.
I might load up my power chair and cruise on the asphalt roads this am with Rosie. She loves that and I have fun watching her have fun.
And I think my health is up to loading and unloading and loading and unloading the power chair this am.

Let's see. It most likely will take $40 to drive to campsite and back. Plus $16 x 3....not sure about this.
But, not sure about not going either. Being stuck in the apartment for years is not good for the heartstringns.

we've all been thinking about you ak...so sorry...you are a tuff one...pushing thru all this
last i knew you didnt have answers...hope it gets easier
i just got off pre surg interview with hosp nurse and she made it clear the plan is for me to come home 3 days after surgery...no rehab...last time i was in rehab 3 weeks and had troubles when i got home. this surg is twice as hard and half as likely to be successful. doc told me i would go to rehab if i needed it.
he also said the "homemakers" would take care of me but that has been a disaster.
my kids might be able to come for a short time if we knew the dates but we dont. it would have been easier if i was in a car accident i think.
so...i wrote down what i am supposed to do. it is a beautiful day...like fall...good air. i am taking etta to be groomed near the ocean so will have 3-4 hrs to read and relax.
i just sense this is the end and i know i have to type up good instructions and put them with my will before i go
and i really dont want to die and i worked so hard for so long helping kids that were in a lot of trouble and i put everything i had into raising my 4 kids and launching them...and i know it all has to do with money...and it just isnt fair

Able to cruise around in the forest area on the asphalt roads for est 10 min maybe.
Kind of done in now. REsting. Hot out all ready at 7:30 am.
Having the increase in rent has taken the air right out of my tires. Trying to regroup.
It also was hard on the brain and body to do the cruise on the forest...but glad I was able.
Mosquito's out again.
I am hoping to do some laundry after I rest a bit.

Considering that the campgrounds close at the end of next month. So I just have this month and next month to spend 2 or 3 days there.

Hugs. Kayak. Stress. Glad to hear you are going to the beach for some destressing.
It will all be OK. Just keep breathing.
I had a boss once who use to say anxiety preceeds change. So true.
And I think with lyme and compnay it makes things more difficult.
Now, sending my imaginary limo over to take you away. he or she will be bringing a crew to take care of things while you are gone so good to hear you are making a list.
Where would you like to go??

Able to wash some dishes while sitting in power chair and make a pitcher of the lemon drink.
Need to eat but too exhausted so I'll rest and then get up and get the squash out of the frig and bring it back to bed and eat with the squash on my chest as I lie flat in bed.
Sitting upright to eat is usually out for me.
