I was having an actually kind of good day other than migraines. Then bam out of the blue yonder major anxiety and panic. Then major shortness of breath. Using a paper bag cuz I was hyperventilating. Brain having scattered thoughts. And feelings of fainting.

I'm having an MRI on Thurs due to migraines etc... Lyme. Last ones in 04 do show head trauma. Lesions 2 on left and 1 on right. And deep white matter flairs. And sm. cell ischemic dx.

Wow I'm starting to feel less weakness and almost breathing ok. But I've been using the paper bag during typing. But still having anxiety stress. Feels like my brain is on fire. And dizzy. Could be from new migraine med Zonegram. 25mg at bed time.

I also just took natural Dopa Mucuna for mood support and also relaxation support is magnesium B6 Chamomile Lemon Balm Valerian Skullcap Passionflower and Monolaurin.

Any thoughts or ideas are most welcome. [Eek!]

Sorry you are having a rough & tumble time of it.

I am concerned that the herbs you take do not mix with this anti-seizure drug. Did the prescribing doctor know of the herbs you take?

Especially, the first one (Dopa Mucuna) affects levels of dopamine in the brain. So do seizure drugs.

Valerian, Skullcap, Passionflower - also of concern with how they may interact with the seizure drug.

Now you may not be using it as an anti-seizure drug (you said for migraines -- but one side effect of the Rx is headaches so it's a curious thing)

I have found with anti-seizure drugs for myself (for seizures) the seizure would usually increase both in intensity and frequency.

Part of that could be the liver / kidney load . . . or in my case, I think it tried to put the brain into rest mode but my adrenals were too revved and pushed through, prompting the seizure threshold to be lowered.

When staring ANY anti-seizure drug (even if for off label use) is it best to be clear of all supplements - especially herbs. You need to see how you will do with just the Rx, alone. Anything else you take to alter your brain will change the way the Rx works in your body.

A baseline with just the Rx is very important.

Although, since many are very hard on the liver / kidneys, such herbal support is really necessary. But most MDs don't have the kind of education to know how to mix and match.

A good LL ND (naturopathic doctor) would have knowledge in this area, though.

Magnesium might be okay, though.

From Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at NYU. See side effects: agitation is included

Zonisamide (Zonegran)

Excerpts:

Most people who take zonisamide tolerate it without unwanted side effects. Those who experience undesirable effects most often complain of:

sleepiness or fatigue

dizziness

loss of appetite/weight

upset stomach

headache

agitation or irritability

Some less-common side effects include:

poor coordination or tremor

speech problems

poor concentration

itching

vision

Wow great info. And preventative problems. I take the Zonegram generic at bed time. Took the OTC late afternoon didnt give it a second or first thought that it would interfere. Thanks I will not take the OTC until after MRI and I can talk to Doc.

Hope you are feeling better, Annie! Be sure you are eating properly and drinking plenty of fluids.

This is probably NOT a problem.. but I had this thought... Hopefully you are not using scented dryer sheets in your dryer? Those fragrances (chemicals) could trigger brain stuff in anyone who is sensitive.

Good call by TuTu on the scented dryer sheets.

Also, try not to look down into dryer as that can increase dizziness. And the inner ear can also be connected to some seizure triggers (sure is for me).

Try to squat down to take things out rather than bend over. Or pull up a little foot stool or chair. That would be best, really. Sit down.

Hope you feel better soon.

Also, as this sounds like a new thing for you, many people can have a seizure and never have another one. Really.

Could just be the wrong combination. Many variables.

As TuTu said, be sure to EAT and drink water. Food is very, very important now. Low blood sugar can also cause a lot of what you are dealing with right now.

Rather than breathe into a paper bag, it may be best to lie down, dark and quiet room and do some deep rhythmic slow steady breathing. Sing a few lullabies to yourself or just hum. Humming is very soothing. Soft music many help, too.

Take care.

Wholly Wow never thought of those thoughts. Too many migraines keep me from thinking. I have been dizzier than normal dizzy. I've only eaten a couple of slices of Millet Bread toast and honey. I do need to eat some dinner.

And luckily I'm allergic to any laundry scents I always use the unscented stuff. I'll be more careful about bending over quickly etc... Thank TuTu. And Keebler and Kayak [group hug] [group hug]

Hi Keebler. I just read the web site about Zonegram wow. I had no knowing of what it's for. It's causing many side effects and I will be talking to the Dr either Thurs or Fri.

When I was searching for side effects online and I never came across that one. Thank you thank you thank you. [hi] [bow]

Grateful to have this info.

Annie-did the migraine med help the migraine pain? (Lyme brain pain...)

My migraine meds, I can only take two pills every 24 hours. Some of migraine meds, if one takes too much in a 24 hour period, can cause seritonin syndrome.

(sorry spelling and grammar not too good, but having the spins myself today)

I'm sorry you had the panic attack. They are very scary! I am glad you are OK, but I worry about you falling again and bumping your head real bad.

I hope the MRI shows something that will help you get some help around the house, even if just for laundry and vacuuming, so you can rest.

Small meals with protein helps to keep the blood sugar steady.

My doc said if I was waking up in the night, to eat a something with protein in it about an hour before bed to help stabilize blood sugars.

I wish I could hop in my transporter (imaginary) and zip down to your place to stay for a few days to help you and keep you company.

We could listen to the radio, prepare healthy meals together, maybe some board games if your brain pain wasn't too bad.

I could show you pictures of my cats (you like cats, right?) and we could watch some chick flics with a hunky actor in them.

Dear Annie, I am so sorry you are feeling crummy.

I am praying for some relief for the brain pain you have.

Thank you for the great ideas. I can build a transporter out of Legos. ;-) I love the idea of protein to help with migraines. I love cats. In fact I had to put my female down a year ago. Actually I like to refer it to raised her up last Dec from diabetes and then her companion and mine too raised him up in Aug. I miss them both. It's very lonely without them.

I love chick flicks. One of my fav is Somewhere In Time with Christipher Reeds. Talk about spelling. As it turns out the migraine meds I thought I was getting was actually seizure meds. I have my MRI tomorrow. I hope there's sonething left of my right Lyme brain so as to keep my sense oh humor.

I fell again to day. I must say I'm getting pretty good at it. I don't try to stop it with my hands and arms. Don't want to injure them. I hope to learn something tomorrow but you know how Drs can be. Days later.

When i taught horseback riding i used to teach my students to fall off safely! You are right to not break the fall with your hands. Also consciously relax your whole body...be floppy, like a stuffed animal...it can save you from broken bones

But honestly annie...i would much rather you just stop falling!

Annie I am hopping in the lego transporter, with my cats, and we're coming for a visit!

They like chick flics too. (not that they have a choice...)

Let's face it...what they like is what all cats like...

me opening cans.

I swear I am just a big can opener disguised as a human.

Hehehe a big can opener very funny. Boy oh boy I need funny right now. Defiantly going thru herx and today I begin taking 2 of those stupid pills a day. I had a long A$$ day. Luckily Ive a friend to drive to Drs out town. 25 miles is about all I can drive alone and not get lost. I'm deep in the Ozarks and even a GPS Can't find yourself. It true.

Any ways the MRI went as usual, a real bang up job. Hope to know soon. Then a rough afternoon and evening was even worse. I don't think I mentioned I detest Lyme. No play on the the word De'Test. It's been very bad. And plus the second dose of Zonegram.

I Hate pills. Swallowing is no prob. It's neededing them. I miss life I miss work I miss being late for work I miss not having friends I miss not having money I miss ME...........

Life without me is one thing. But being forced to live life with out me and me still here indescribable. No I'm not thinking of doing harm to my self. I'd rather scream and fight and I want to know why This Disease exists and Drs Gov. Deny treatment. I don't understand I don't understand why. What's the big F'n deal.

Just treat us. All of us can't be wrong. Just treat us it's really simple really. Like Tincup says Treat The Bite. Please. Drs just turn their heads and look the other way. How do they sleep at night???? We can't.....

I'd like to kick Michael J Fox's Butt Back to The Future.... This way we can have a future. He had Lyme now it's Parkinson's ya whatever. As for the Lyme test. They need to look for the Bacteria not the Antibodies.

I'm ranting way tooooooo much. But it did feel good to get it out of my brain and on so called paper screen. Wow I feel so much better venting and ranting. Glad that's over with.
Maybe now I can calm down. Hope you can relate to my discord.

All you guys are great people. I know we all suffer on different levels and different days. All my day days seem to run together. Everyday I wake up with same migraine and that's how my day starts. I must some how get to where I can help other people to get my mind off of my mind. [group hug] [group hug] [bonk] [bonk]

I want to say yes. I'm not doing at all well. Been another bad day. Herxing without Abx 3 different times today. Weak I couldn't blow out a candle. Had MRI last week for seizures and migraines and headaches. There's more but not worth repeating. Over and over same sandwich different day. You know. Anxiety is running full throttle.

How are you doing. Are you planning a Thankgiving gathering?

Sorry Ive not been around. Too much depression. Too many headaches. I woke up with a major migraine today. And in the midst of pain. I actually called the suicide hotline. I don't know how much my poor pea brain can take.

I'm just trying to get past Thurs. I don't want to ruin it for my kids. We don't talk. In over 7 years. Sometimes my daughter will txt some pic of grandson who's 8. Things like last baseball game etc... And they're 2000 miles away. Which is my fault.

And Ive been going thru major crap BS and more just plain fed up with all of it.

Then some jerk called today trying to tell me Ive won 150K and a Mercedes ya right. Man scams are raising their heads early for the holidays.
