My 91 year old mom died peacefully of leukemia a month ago. It was just in February we were able to convince her to move from her house and closer to her kids. When she moved, we found out she had MDS. Just a month before she died it had become accute leukemia. She just got more tired and then died... It was not a bad way to go after a long life. And we got to spend more time with her these last 8 months.
But it is still so hard to see a life let go, even at that age, and after a great life with few regrets.

I'm so sorry about your mother. Watch for her in your dreams.
My mother is 88 and still in her own house. She gets around better than I do! However, last night the closet door fell off and knocked her over, breaking her collarbone.

Thankyou for posting this. Im older and happy in my house but miss being near kids They are scattered and still keep moving around-some of them. Somehow i know we need to find a wsy to have quality time together...and your post has reminded me of that
Im sorry for your loss but glad it was peaceful and you had time together
Like carol says...watch for her in your dreams. I dont have to be asleep. She whispers in my ear a lot.

Thank you, gals. It was a lot harder than I imagined.
Carole, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Is she doing ok?
Kayak, I don't know what older is...you are still very with it...but the one thing I saw through these past months, is it would have been better for her if she had chosen to situate herself in a secure, comfortable situation, nearer her kids, years ago, when she was still able to enjoy and get settled into a new life. Make new friends.
She was having some memory issues... And she got very confused with the move. Then she broke her hip and was in rehab for a while.. So that didn't help her confusion either.
But if you are considering a move... Do it while you can still make choices and can control the situation. You'll be happier!
Me and my husband have no kids... This was a wake up call, for trying to figure out our old age...
Love you gals.

Kudzu-I'm very sorry for the loss of your beloved Mother. What a blessing to be near your Mom and spend some quality time with her before she passed away.
I've been living with my 84 y.o. Mom for almost 2 months now and am so glad to be with her. We've been going out and doing errands together and I try to help with the cooking and cleaning. She still does so much on her own and I have to convince her to let me help. I see where I get my stubbornness from.
I think when Mothers go, the heart of the family goes with them. I like to think that a part of our Mothers will always live on in our hearts, influencing things we do and say. I believe in that way they'll still be with us forever.

My deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your beloved Mom. How blessed you were to have her for so long. I lost my Mom twenty years ago. She was only in her sixties.
It is difficult to lose someone we love, and so much more when it is a parent. Even though your pain and sadness is deep, take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
