It still won't let me post something I've been trying to post several times. It contains a longer amount of text. So it is still somewhat messed up.

It appears that some security triggers that protect the site from hackers were being activated improperly. I've made some adjustments that hopefully will eliminate these false positives.

Please let me know if you continue to have difficulties.

It worked earlier, another thread. but I get bounced back with any edit. And I edit SO often before a post is done. Got bounced on this, so starting over with fresh post. I think it does not "do" edits anymore?

Hmmm. well, four edits went through. Maybe my other ones in different thread just upset it, somehow.

Just went back and edited into a post (different thread) from a bit earlier and that took. And, if this posts, this one, too, has now had a couple of successful edits.

Thanks, T Brown, for all your help. thanks to all who make LymeNet the wonderful resource it is.

I just tried to send a long pm and it would not go through.

So, I shortened it to nearly nothing. Then, the system told me that the person's mailbox is full. I don't believe their box is full because it told me that same message about another person also. These 2 people have not been on LymeNet for some time and don't post except maybe once per year.

I was trying to respond to their pms to me. So, this is what is happening to me.

Today, I tried to post a medium amount of article excerpts . . . carefully selecting the key points and it was bounced back.

The link and headline did go through, though.

I just got a set of three links with a few paragraphs to post in a different thread. Maybe just timing or something about the "layout" but both were similar. I will just go with the flow, as I've had to do with my body / brain for so very long. When something is not working, "oh, well" is my go-to mantra. I know that if I just wait a bit, it might work again.

FYI I have been tracking this problem down. I believe I have a handle on it and have made some adjustments.

Please PM me with details if you continue to have difficulty with the site.

The root of the issue appears to be with security software which protects the site from hackers and other bad actors, where legitimate posts are sometimes being triggered as a false positive.

I apologize for the inconvenience and we will work to resolve as quickly as possible.

Regards,
-Tom

" . . . a false positive."

I just knew IDSA was involved (snicker, snicker).

Thanks Tom for the update!

I just got bounced after posting several posts. I had one more so very important one and I've been cut off. But it let me post this. Then I tried to post the link and it bounced me.

So, now I'll try to edit this and just add the detail without the URL, maybe it's the URL it does not like.

Maybe that's it. It just did not like the URL. I tried about 8 times between the thread I was in and this one.

Still odd. I just posted one thread and it worked just fine. Then went for another and then it bounced back with that "updating our site" thing again. I tried several times. Perplexed.

If this goes through, will be even more perplexed.

So, I tried posting that in a different forum. So, have bounced out of Seeking, General and Medical. And no go. I'll try it here.

[I posted detail about the Portland Lyme Support meeting on Sun. April 10 -- and it would not take.]

And it bounced back, so I deleted my detail. Let's see if this goes through. I think maybe it just can't always do details, like me?

Perhaps because I have lots of space breaks and lines that were not full sentences, there were several colons: and a couple links.

So, I made the support group post as simple and clean as possible and it still bounced back to the "upgrading site" sign.

If this one posts, I'll be beyond perplexed but it's time to say "Goodnight, Gracie"

Maybe there is some reason it does not want people to know about the meeting? Is the IDSA hiding in the "bounce back" function? Hee-hee.

Tried to repost the support group notice again today, along with our state links (in Seeking & also in General - as the meeting is today - Portland, Oregon) and it bounced back again to the "site being upgraded"

But, if this post goes through, then there seems something selective in what it bounces back and what it accepts. And I cannot imagine what that difference might be.

For Tom Brown

Hey Tom! I was just able to send a short reply to a pm someone sent me.

Then, I tried to send a long pm to a person (I was the initiator of the pm), and I got the "upgrading our site" page again.

This person is brand new to LymeNet and has posted only once. So, I doubt his mailbox is full. Still, I couldn't send him the pm recommending a doctor to him.

This is what I have discovered tonight:

If I want to send a lengthy message by pm, if I hit "preview post" first and that sends me to the "upgrading our site" page, then I know the message is too long to go through.

Then, I cut off the bottom of the message and keep deleting more and more lines until I finally can preview the post. Then, I send it.

So, I send "chunks" of my LONG post recommending a certain lyme doctor and in about 3 chunks, it is all sent.

Perhaps this will help Tom to know that the "preview post" function is letting me know when the pm is too long for the system to handle.

Just to be clear, before the site was changed, I could send this exact post in its entirety with no problem.

Thanks, Tom for persevering. We all appreciate those who give us this site. It helps so, so many people.

I made another major readjustment, so I'm hoping that the large message issue is resolved. Please let me know if it is not.

Tom,

The large message issue is not resolved.

If anything, I could send more text before you posted this yesterday than after.

in the morning on 4/13, I could send my very long message in 2 "chunks" and now, since you posted this, it takes more than 2 chunks to send it all out.

So, it is accepting less text now.

Reporting in...

Keep getting the moved things to a new location notice when posting. Some posts show up, then next time I go back they aren't there. Then next time they are there, both of them.

Had it happen about 8 times tonight. Other times all is fine.

I don't do PM's. Mine were posts on the board that generated the messages.

Hope that helps and thanks.

Plus, I keep getting UN logged in. Or logged out, duh me, there is a word for that.

Haven't had to log in for years, and now almost every time I visit I have to log in. No big deal, just relaying that it is different in the event it helps figure out the problems.
