- Some of these may turn to be wonderful. And I do like to know that there are some good & intelligent and lyme literate researchers working to help. It does take time and - I sure hope - they are looking at all the intricate aspects and not rushing.
Yet . . . not all the news out there comes from this kind of place. But it's a conversation - a discussion of sorts - to know all of what's going on and then have time to study and gain the good from whatever possible. The more we can come to understand any researcher's thought process, the better.
Some of these may be advertisements for investors in a round about marketing sort of way. Get the buzz going and investors will think it's the next big ticket.
Also PR campaign for the public, not just building a public image in "look what we are doing for you" but also like advance trailers for movies that won't be out until Christmas. They want the word to get around to build momentum.
Indeed, it's frustrating not to have better tests now but that is not the biggest problem: the ignorance of the IDSA is, the pressure on doctors who do know about lyme being smothered and not allowed to be the best doctors they can. Now.
I get the feeling that some of these announcement (not saying this one) are to discredit ILADS doctors and Igenex, though. Some of these announcements say: "folks, do not look over there" for the truth is yet to come from behind ONLY our red velvet curtain.
There are far - far more important things right now that could be done to really address those who already know they have lyme but are not allowed treatment.
It is absolutely to our advantage that we have advance knowledge of as much of these "new test coming" even if way off in future as we can. We have to keep aware of the thinking and procedures of all those who are working with lyme / TBD -- or who say the are even if not.
And for every morsel of information we get, there is so much beneath that and I hope the good people at ILADS and LymeDisease.org are able to look deeper at all stages.
We need to be able to get a clue as to what's hopeful lead and what may be just a marketing and money making deal . . . and who all people and companies are where ever on that spectrum they stand, sit - or actually work.
In addition to tests, the work on any lyme vaccines is key to follow - but not for reasons that the general public might think. It's the thinking behind any new approach that needs our attention - even on the sidelines.
Apologies for not being concise. I'm not even sure if I manage to say what I intended and backing up to see if I've repeated does not work as I can't remember what I've read from one paragraph to the next. Sigh. [This is why I do better with just cut & pasting informational links] -

This thing goes round and round about every ten years the complete Lyme thing starts all over.
Just get out my lyme in our time from 30 years ago and it is up to date again.

It is so frustrating that Lyme and co. cannot be legally diagnosed using a microscope...at least this is true in my state.
I have seen Lyme and co. in both my daughter's and husband's blood at our LLMD's office...they see it but are unable to officially use it as a diagnostic tool.
Go figure...

- Bingo. Exactly. Discrediting in, oh, so many ways. If only people really knew, eh? -
