my husband insists on taking lipitor. hey, I've talked till I'm blue in the face. I make sure he takes plenty of ubiquinol and fish oil.

I tell ya...doctors need to get a new script...ever.single.doctor...will argue the statin issue with the very same script...across the board.
I think my poor husband has had to refuse the drug at least twelve times so far and then has had to sit through the same old lecture each and every time.
His functional doctor has done immensely more cardio aftercare than ANY cardiologist to date.

I'm pretty sure my doc won't write them. My husband has had high cholesterol for years and he has always told him which supplements to take instead of statins. Praise God!

My bf takes Lipitor after his mild heart attack. I saw on a show how it blocks the body's pathway of making coQ10 so he's been on a supplement dose of that.
His cardiologist never mentioned anything about coQ10. Surprising and sad that people aren't being given this information.

aklnwlf...my suggestion is 300 or 400 mg a day away from fish oil. Keebler will probably have the exact amount.

thanks for the compliment that I might know but I could never afford CoQ10 and have only taken one bottle, long ago. So I never really studied up on this reason for it, especially as I would never take statins [by brain and adrenals need good fats] so I never needed to know for this reason.
Stephen Sinatra, MD is a heart specialist and his writings might get into dose.
www.mercola.com - Mercola's website - would be the first place I would search both for cautions regarding "statins" & much safer methods
and for "CoQ10" - and he has written about a newer form of that. -

remember older people, I'm 67, cannot process coq adequately. ubiquinol is recommended for us.
and, yep, it's more expensive than coq.
I buymine at costco.
