He was in a terrible car accident and was nearly killed. I don't know what his exact injuries were but I know he needed a lot of rehab and he has huge scars on his inner arms.

His story reminds me a little of David Archuleta's from a few years ago. He had to have a breathing tube for some reason and nearly lost his voice. Both are comeback kids!

The shocking thing is, Stefano's accident was caused by a drunk driver, but just one year later Stefano himself was convicted of DUI! What in the world was that kid thinking? I was upset with him when I discovered this about him!

At least he's alive and well, hopefully has learned his lessons by now. I will miss him on the show - he is a cutie!

I'm thinking James Durbin is my favorite now, but I'm partial because of his high-functioning autism and Tourette's.

I think James will win. He is just too awesome. But .. with the way voting has been .. it's anybody's game!

Scotty makes me think of my former sister-in-law's brother. It's hard for me to get past the resemblance! He looks like my former SIL, too! (It was a messy marriage and breakup, so it's not a happy association for me!) Poor Scotty, he can't help it that he resembles a hellion! I'll try not to hold it against him!

OMG, I am crying for James tonight. He really deserved to go all the way, right beside Haley. Doesn't America know that Lauren and Scotty probably already have the attention of Nashville? I think America got it wrong, though I can't argue about Scotty and Lauren's talents.

James was my favorite, by far. I have to think though that this was a blessing in disguise for him. He has to have gotten the attention of the right people and I just know he will be successful. If he had won AI, he would have been stuck with their producers and two year contract or whatever it is they "win." Now he is free to sign whatever deal he wants with whomever he wants. Good for him. I'll be rooting for him!

On a side note, at dinner tonight my five year old said to me, "I just love Jack (meaning James). You know the one, Mom. The rock n' roll star."

So he is already a rock n' roll star in one little girl's eyes.

Very true about the AI contract. It would have limited his success in some ways. He probably has many offers already.

We almost forgot to say Ellen Who, too! Though I actually enjoyed Ellen DeGeneres on the show!

I didn't miss Simon one bit this year. I really, really like Steven Tyler, though his criticisms pretty much consisted of, "That was beautiful!" [Smile]

My 52 yr old single sister is madly in love with Steven. She bought the mag with him on the cover. She threatened to kill anyone that sat a glass on him.

I told her take him off the coffetable and put him between box springs and mattress. [lol] [lol]

Funny I've been Aerrowsmith fan for years but I didn't pay much attn to Steve but I think he has cleaned up his life and is so much fun.

On my, tomorrow's Thurs and I know I'm going to be boo hooing again.

Yeah, Ellen Who was such a whimp, she bowed out in one year. I heard she's doing big campaign on her show for people to vote FEMALE.

Many think she's the one that's influenced the last 3 weeks of boys going home.

I didn't know Ellen was doing that.

Well, my vote is for Haley. I would love to see her win - I mean, who else can do Robert Plant?? She has some serious talent!

I like Lauren and Scotty, too, but Haley really grabbed me this season.

I voted for Haley 20 times last night. If you come out and do a Led Zepplin, Stevie Nicks and Morrison song that good.....you are an American Idol.

I love Scottie and Lauren too. Here I go crying again tonight. I love this kids!!!!

Lauren when she did that Lee Ann Whomack Dance song, it was awesome.

I noticed Haley's beautiful hair, too!

I'm disappointed for two reasons. My preference was James and Haley in the final.

The second disappointment was Haley's initial reaction when she found out she didn't make it. It was such a bratty face!

Great season on Idol. I predict a Scotty win.

Well even though I'm disappointed I'm not surprised. It's really hard for rocker/jazzy/blues to win against country star.

Country music is America's music today.

I'm looking forward to a Casey and Haley #1 hit. Together they make great music.

So does Scotty and Lauren make great country music together.

Wow it's going to be tough next week gang. Lauren will need to be flawless like her last song last night.

Josh Turner showing up for Scotty party was too cool.

One of the other contestants jokingly said Haley was a brat .. so ... figures.

I think Scotty will win just because he's a guy. The only thing that may affect that vote is the fact that BOTH of them are teeny boppers.

PS .. I'm good at picking the winner! [Big Grin] Have been for years.

I was thinking Scotty all the way until Lauren did the last song to mothers. It was very touching song.

They both are so talented and to think they are 16 & 17 years old. Both of them will be big in Nashville.

I think Scotty will bring young ladies to country music big time. Will young, teenage fans still love Scotty and not be so impressed with mother song by Lauren.

Many teens today think moms are stupid or not so cool or do not know how it feels to be a teenager or mad because mom grounded them for less than expected grades on report card?????

Tomorrow night should be another tearful night.

My husband was so into the song about mom. His mom left us much too early from cancer. He knows what moms are to our lives.

Hope's "two cents"

I think that American Idol should change the voting process, so it is not controlled by the young teen girl votes, in the future.

My top four this year: Jacob (the first "Idol" to EVER bring tears to my eyes when he sang, "Bridge Over Troubled Water"), Lauren, Pia, and James.

I was upset when the judges used their "save" on Casey, because they should have saved it for Pia.

Personally, I think the judges are way too soft this year, lol.

I was VERY sad when James went home, because I really wanted him to win.

Only ONE contestant is left out of my top four faves. I would like to see her win, because Scotty has a record deal, no matter what.

However, back to my very first sentence, where the vote is controlled by the teenage girl population, who may be swooning over Scotty.

I honestly do not care who wins now that James Durban is gone. He was the best ever.

I will be happy with either outcome, and I hope both Scotty and Lauren go far.

I agree, HopesAlive. I think they need to limit the number of votes like "Dancing" does. That would help a lot.

Too cute the way he showed his feelings for Lauren tonight. It's not really fair to the teens who can be so fickle over some petty stuff.

I know people in 50s and 60s that got into it this year. I loved the new judges. I thought the show was so much more entertaining than it's been in the past.

It was too stiff until this year. I think that was Simon's control since he was one of producers.

I loved Stephen Tyler's performance tonight. Beyonce great. J Lo and Anthony so cool. Scotty on stage with Tim McGraw oh my.

I just hope all these judges are back in Jan. Many funny moments without all the horrible singers over and over again for laughs.

Yes, it's not fair when there's endless calls by younger people and us older folks can't even get the area code written down correctly.

One of Idol's best seasons. Loved James singing with Judas Priest!! And Haley with Tony Bennett! And don't forget Gladys Knight singing with Jacob. When they brought out Bono from U2 I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! [Smile]

Ever since I learned of Scotty's win, "Baby lock them doors and turn the lights down low..." keeps running a loop in my mind!

Oh Haley with Tony Bennett was great. James rocking on stage with Priest, cool!

What a year. Can they find that kind of talent again. I would bet they will.

Was a great show last night.

Scotty is insisting he and Lauren are "just friends." lol [Wink]

JLo and all that wiggling....wow! lol

I liked Carrie and Lauren singing together.

I honestly do not think a girl has a chance to win as long as the teenage girl population are the majority of voters, which I still do not think was fair.

Once James was voted off, I quit being invested in who would win, but I would have liked to have seen it go to Lauren.

Another thing that is funny that I wanted to mention is that some years, I will say, "Oh, I am definitely going to buy so and sos CD when that comes out!"

One to two years later I can't even remember who the heck they were, just like the guy who won last year, (Lee something?) so my memory is really short when it comes to Idol, but it was fun while it lasted.

Also, every year I say I will never watch this show again...then every year I get sucked in again. haha

And, I honestly DO wish the judges would be a little more constructive with their criticism. I think they are being too nice. [Wink]

I think the judges backed off criticism later on because every time one of them said something negative, the contestant got voted off. (it seemed)

I think they realized it and didn't want it to happen again.

I agree with a lot of what you said, hopes.

Maybe Lauren said to Scotty .. wait a minute!!

Hope, I was rooting all the way for James. I was totally convinced it would be between him and Pia.

But this season, unlike past years has had so much talent. Scotty and Lauren weren't my favs by any stretch, but it was obvious they had so much talent.

They were adorable at the finale and I'll listen to whatever they record.

I have to say that the thing that impressed me the most about Scotty is that he has shown himself to be gracious and a gentleman from day one. And he's just a teenager. Kudos to his parents.
