OK! I have a dream.

My bet is we can get 5,000 signatures by Valentines Day!!!! (For you guys out there, that is February 14.)

[lol]

If you don't want the IDSA guidelines to be blocking your way to getting treatment- SIGN ON NOW!!!!!

Lymedisease.org (formerly CALDA) is taking the lead on this effort, so we know it is a good deal for us.

Link to petition is below... (I would advise clicking the anonymous button before submitting your name- safety first!)

LYMEPOLICYWONK: SIGN THE PETITION TO TAKE DOWN THE IDSA GUIDELINES!

24
Jan

Medical treatment guidelines are tremendously important in determining your treatment options. All important treatment guidelines are listed by the National Guidelines Clearinghouse (NGC), which is part of the US Department of Health and Human Services.

It's the government's way of providing updated information about different diseases to health care professionals. NGC's own rules require that listed guidelines be updated every 5 years.

You don't have to live in the USA to sign on.

It's for everyone who may be exposed to Lyme, or those who just don't want to have BAD guidelines on the market for their insurers to use to deny treatment to anyone.

Drum Roll!

Absolutely amazing! I was hoping to see 5,000 signatures on the petition by Valentines Day.

It is very possible we will make it, especially considering in less than 24 hours- 11 PM last night, to 10:35 tonight- we got over ...

3,000 signatures!

Cheers and applause to you!

Having the community working together to give the IDSA guidelines the boot is wonderful!

Keep up the good work, and thank you for signing on, and for sharing this with everyone you know!

Remind your friends and family: You don't have to have Lyme in order to sign this. You don't have to be in the US. (The IDSA guidelines have a global reach.)

GROUNDHOG DAY PREDICTION

If Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow on Groundhog Day, legend says we will have six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see it, spring is just around the corner!

BUT.... Phil, who lives in highly endemic Pennsylvania, told me if he comes out of his den for his midnight snack on Feb 2 and sees less than 10,000 signatures on the petition to bury the IDSA guidelines, he will start biting everyone who didn't sign on!

The good news is... if there are more than 10,000 signatures he will only bite the IDSA guideline authors! Sounds like a deal to me! ~smile~

Please sign the petition and get everyone you know to sign it! Getting more signatures surely beats having to hide from an angry groundhog and deal with the IDSA any longer!

General Beauregard Lee, PhD., the Southern Groundhog Weather Predictor based out of Atlanta, said to tell you there will be an early spring this year in the south!

He is sorry Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania wasn't able to predict the same for the rest of the country.

General Lee said he is VERY pleased to know we now have over 9,000 signatures on the petition and he wanted to thank you very much for your efforts so far.

He is concerned though that there may not be 10,000 signatures by midnight tonight- Groundhog Day.

He said he would write people directly to ask them to sign on, but as you know, he is not allowed to have a computer or phone in his den, only a TV.

He said if you could help get the 10,000 signatures on the petition by tonight (tweet, facebook, email, phone calls, whatever), he would personally send a message to the guideline authors saying "Kiss My Grits!"

We need about 300 more people (as of now) to make it to 10,000.

Link to petition here: http://www.lymedisease.org/petitionscript/index.php

Thanks from General Lee!

Hi folks,
I've been working with Lorraine and Tincup on this petition, and I just want to make sure you all know that we are still trying to get as many names as humanly possible on the petition. Please make sure you not only sign, but that you also send this to everyone you know. The NGC needs to know that there is public support for making the IDSA follow the rules and update their guidelines. We will really be in bad shape if they continue to keep the IDSA guidelines up on their website and just ignore all the new literature that shows chronic Lyme DOES exist.

Does anyone know if there has been any response, in any form, from the NGC to the petition? Have they made any attempts to contact any one at CALDA or LDA to discuss?

They got back to Lorraine Johnson (CALDA/ILADS) a few weeks ago and said that they are re-evaluating. We really need a lot more signatures on the petition if it's to be a major factor in their decision. They need to know they are being watched by many thousand people. So please work on getting as many signatures as possible
Ellen
