I always thought this was prevalent on the West Coast. But now, this has come up on a screening through Igenex. Matches symptoms--chills, night sweats and air hunger. Treated Babesia (before there was testing for Duncani & was neg. for Microti) 14 years ago and never had any trouble until now.

Duncani started on the west coast but it is all over the U.S. now.

Here in Maryland, I have a friend who tested positive for both microti and duncani.

bcb1200, what treatment did you do for it? Anti-malarial drugs or herbal?

Got it too, possibly in 2002. In New England that whole time, no travel out of the region,

It's def spread. It's antibiotic resistant, been treating it for 9 months, still present. Zith, mepron and herbals. Afraid it's with me for life.

PCP told me its a controversial diagnosis. See, those things 'resolve on their own'

I'm not sure I would fully trust the test honestly. SO many people test positive, including me. This is one I never have been able to fully accept, though it could be there for sure. It's almost ridiculous how many test positive in my opinion.

The test is b.s. - I had babesia for many years and it wasn't until we started treating (over 6 months with Zith/Mepron) that we actually got a positive.

A good clinician will treat based on clinical presentation. The proof is when there is improvement, even in the absence of positive tests.

Unfortunately, mepron, malarone and tindamax (NOT pulsed - ugh) didn't work at all for me. It was only when I did an herbal protocol that my babesia symptoms were controlled. This ranged from pulsed liposomal artemisinin, Beyond Balance products (Bab-1 or Bab-2), etc.

Only then did my symptoms of extreme fatigue, heat intolerance, orthostatic hypotension, palpitations and shortness of breath improve.

BTW - I am on the east coast and, although I did travel to the west, I was bitten in the east.
