WEll, I had the hida done this morning on my gallbladder. For those who are new here, I was supposed to have my gb out in Dec of '03, but chickened out.

I was afraid of having a relapse of Lyme and I'd been feeling much better in that area. I'm still worried about that, but I may have no choice this time.

I do have plenty of gallstones and sludge as per the ultrasound.

After about 1 hr into the Hida, they told me that the small bowel was not showing up. [I did have pain and discomfort during the test, if that means anything.]

I had to go out and wait an hour, then they took a few more pics and said the sm. bowel showed up.

He told me they weren't going to do the second part of the test, which surprised me. I did talk to my GP after the test and he said "I wanted them to do that part." [oh great]

I asked if maybe that meant they found something on the first part and so didn't need to do the second, and he said he didn't know but when he got the results he would call me.

The tech mentioned that since I had stones they didn't want the test to throw me into an emergency situation. [it could cause a stone to get lodged]

So I don't know if they made a bad decision or if they didn't do more because they had the results they needed.

ANYBODY KNOW???? I'll take your educated guesses! Thanks!

Hey Lymetoo,

I did end up having a hida scan and they did both parts of the test. Sounds like it could be they found gallstones and sludging and didn't want or need to go any further.

My tests were normal so my situation is completely different. Hopefully the GP will get results back quickly.

Hope your feeling better soon!

Goodness, I sometimes think the hardest part of testing is the waiting for results

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for some answers soon...this has been in the works a LONG time!

Much love,
Melanie
