Does anyone have excessive popping in the shoulders? My left shoulder sounds extremely bad. I do actually have days where it is minimal though but this is an annoyance everyday. Just wandering if this is permanent damage. Does popping and cracking get worse with dieoff? Just concerned? Thanks, Robin in Houston

I have terrible popping and cracking! My shoulders sound like a machine-gun going off! I just thought that that's how they are. Never thought it could be related to Lyme. So, that's another one to tell my duck!

Shoulders, back, neck and right hip all pop and crack constantly -- chiropractor says the muscle spasms keeep knocking my joints out of alignment. He can fix it temporarily, but it always comes right back. I've learned to put my hip back in by myself -- not a lot of fun, but better than the alternative.

I have the same symptoms only mine is only in my right shoulder. It is sore when I put my arm behind my back or over my head and it cracks and grinds. I went to an RA and had xrays and a mri done. Strange nothing showed up no bone or cartilage degeneration and the MRI showed no tendon or ligament damage either. My guess would be that it is not permanent because there is no evidence of damage and it does come and go.

I also have this cracking/popping....jeeez, reminding myself of my arthritic grandmother!

I noticed my feet crack and pop back before I even reached the teen age years! Then my shoulders started to do that especially if I rolled them, which I used to do quite a bit of in theatre. I mentioned it to a dr who was in a play with me once (early 1990's) and he said just don't force the popping.

Now...EVERYTHING pops!!!! Yikes! I go to twist a cap off a water bottle, there goes my wrists. I go to stand, there goes my hips.

I think physical therapy to get the joints and muscles stretched is a good place to target....that is what I'm planning to do, on those days when getting from the couch to the kitchen becomes easier!!!

Almost all my joints crack and pop....

Strange thing is I noticed that when I am real sick....which means the pain is so bad I can barely walk or hold a fork etc...... then I dont pop or crack.

The better I get the more my joints pop and crack.... I'm not sure exactly what this means though.

Best Wishes [Smile]

I'm similar to Azure, when I'm feeling terrible - no popping or cracking - when I feel better - lots of popping and cracking.

I too have some cracking. THAT is arthritus.

Mine is mostly my left shoulder, my neck and my knees.

BUT I am 64 and arthritus runs in the family.

WHEN I am not doing well, everything is tight and not much cracking, but when I feel better, lighter, then more cracking and can feel pain in actual knees then instead of the tendons behind them.

I am sure at least SOME of it is Lyme related, some just inherited and age.

Devils Claw, Cats Claw, stephania Root, all help along with Sarsaparilla for cleansing the blood. Other herbs work good also.

I have had that for years myself, I always said I sounded like Rice Crispies once the milk is poored in. It's in my neck, shoulders, elbows, knees and hips.

Weird though, when I turn my head from side to side, like if I were to be saying "No", I hear a scrubbing noise, like to rocks rubbing together.

A chiropractor I seen a few times did tell me what it was but I can't remember. Degenerative Disc Disease or something. [shake]

My popping and cracking was pretty noisy a few months back. Then I had a period of quiet.

Now I have some noise in neck and upper back. Could be related to changes in Meds.?

Yes, I too had excessive popping and cracking, especially in my ankles and knees. Once I stopped the antibiotics in Dec. of 2005 and started swimming, I no longer pop and crack.

The snap, crackling, and popping of all my joints were quite bad when I was at my worst. It all slowly disappeared as I recovered, so for me it was definitely Lyme related, and it was apparently reversible in my case.

I just posted a reply in another thread of what organic apple cider vinegar is doing for my arthritic symptoms. I'm not sure that it's the vinegar, but i'm definitely not popping or cracking as much. I only started a couple of weeks ago, but i haven't had to take a pain killer since then.

My wrists and ankles began to pop a few months into bicillin. It could've been part of herxing or just a side effect of the med. The popping stopped after discontinuing the bicillin. Its never happened since, nor before that for me.

Yep. I have chronic lyme and my shoulders pop if I even roll my head or shrug my shoulders.

You should hear my knees! When I walk down the stairs, even my dh hears crunching sounds. It doesn't hurt but the sound lets you know something is not quite right.

I think I need an oil can. [Smile]
