Would you mind sharing :
what has helped you make significant progress ?

How long did your treatment seem intolerable
before becoming tolerable ?

If life is getting better , please share how long you have been treating the lyme infection.

Thanks for offering some encouragement to many of us who wonder if it ever really gets better .

Hi Jennifer Geddie,

Ditto with what 5dana8 said. My diet has also helped.
I started treatment in 2001 and I am doing much better today.

Hang in there. [Wink]

These are the things I've tried, it's hard to tell sometimes what helps the most but I feel they have all been positive
I went from acute onset severe neurolyme 3 years ago to sometimes functioning at a pretty high level (? 35 yrs undx bb in my system ) Still have ups and downs (unfortunately this summer was mostly down, due to a killer herx, but I think I'm on the upswing again)

Good LLMD
Oral antibiotics 2 1/2 years
Yeast management diet; I also try to eat organic as much as possible
Treatment for coinfections and mold
Lots of high quality supplements, including homeopathic
mindfulness based meditation
yoga
acupuncture
sauna
exercise when I am able
elimination of all toxic cleaners and most toxic beauty products from my home (it's hard!)
massage 1x mo (all I can afford)
Chi Gung class starts on Thurs!
Sometimes I even post positive healing affirmations all over the house

I just won't give up!

- what has helped you make significant progress ?
Allergy free diet, KMT microcurrent, Buhner's herbs, and now metal detox.

- How long did your treatment seem intolerable
before becoming tolerable ?
Can't say. I hated herxes with amoxy, hated herxes with salt/C, but tolerate herxes with herbs rather well (if not overdosed!). It took me some time to start on Buhner's herbs, but since I started, things improved rather fast. Babs treatment was a good start too.

- If life is getting better , please share how long you have been treating the lyme infection.

Life is back to normal now, back to cycling again, no more naps, even my chills seem to have gone the last 3 days. I can't leave herbs nor the KMT though. So I still believe there's a long way to go.

I started Buhner's herbs in December, KMT in April, metal detox sometime in May. I'm on a minimum protocol of herbs, doing parasite cleansing.

There's hope, now I believe!!

a good LLMD
anti-yeast diet
Biaxin
Babs treatment
heparin therapy
hormone balancing
Xango
Rife

"How long was the treatment unbearable before it became bearable?"

At least one year. Felt crappy another year after that.

6 yrs later....Doing GREAT! [Smile]

Significant progress: high dosage IV Vitamin C to boost immune system, cholestyramine for detox, and keeping strictly to my meds schedule.

Intolerable: hard to say because it's so off and on. I have been on lyme/babs treatment for about 16 months now, and it still gets intolerable. I will say that slowly but surely the peaks are getting higher and the valley less frequent. Keep in mind it's a marathon and not a sprint.

Good luck!

This website and my LLMD were the first steps I took and the most important-saved my mind and sanity so i could fight. I have come a dramatically long way in 3 months.

ABX are really the smallest part of my treatment. My main doctors are focusing more on building up my body's ability to fight rather than ABX. I'm only on low dose Ceftin.

The things that have helped me most:

DIET *all organic-veggies, fish, coconut oil, water, herbal teas, and I hate to say it, I do eat fruit, brown rice, grains, etc...I actually feel much much worse when I don't eat these things. I'm not on huge amounts of ABX though, so yeats may simply not be a problem for me. But I am also Gluten Free & Casein Free.

CLEANSE *milk thistle, dr. natura's colonix and toxin out program, dry skin brushing, epsom salt baths

CHIROPRACTOR *this has been a godsend. He's doing strecthing, physical therapy, and adjustments of the neck and spine. My GI problems are getting better and better the longer I do the work. It can be painful since its breaking up scar tissue and moving bones, but its helping so much-and when I do get pain its "good" pain-like post work out pain.

SUPPLEMENTS *for muscle and spine work and digestive health: Magnesium, b-12 w/ folic acid, Anti-Inflammatory blend and digestive enzymes (I take Garden of Life's FYI supplement-its fantastic), evening Prim Rose, Omega 3 fish oil, Cats Claw, ginger and chamomile tea, DGL licorice, C-Salts (highly potent vitamin C)

REMOVAL OF ALL TOXIC CHEMICALS FROM HOME *this literally means if I can't safely eat it without getting ill I don't clean with it, wash with it, put it anywhere near or on my skin.

also want to mention, my fiance is doing all of these things with me. He doesn't have lyme (so he didn't take any ABX) but has other medical issues that are vague and he's been given drugs for for near a decade for what doctors say may be mild epilepsy.

He was on Zoloft, Klonopin, and nitro glycerin daily. Also he had to wear a hat when under florescent lights-they make him dizzy and disoriented.

Since doing the changes with me he's gotten off ALL OF HIS MEDS and feels better than he has since he was 16.

I just wanted to point this out because I think so much of the focus needs to be on building our bodies back up no matter what illness you have.

Can't add much to the previous posters. One essential addition for me is daily use of invision 100 silver with a weekly MSP (mild silver protein) infusion.

I definately have improved with this protocal along with use of detox products, supplements, yeast type diet etc. Also not mentioned is essentil oils which I feel have made some improvement.

As to my condition. I was 2 years out of work and crawling up the stairs to make it whereas today i am working with daily excersices of 1-2 blocks walking.
Slow but steady [Smile]

To each of you i extend thanks . there are so many of us desperate to hear that improvement is possible . The herxing seems endless and
it is hard not to wonder if we will EVER see a day that does not seem like Hell .

I am very encouraged every time I read a story about someone seeing progress and moving toward a more normal life . The treatment for lyme is at times brutal and it is almost impossible to see beyond the months of suffering and inability to do much .

Thank you for taking the time to encourage others .
