I feel my daughter has both; babs and Bart. The doctor put her on Bart meds- Rifampin for two months then switched to babs-Mepron.
However, her red face and others symptoms of Bart were never gone so we switched back to bart- Rifampin and will stay on for at least 6 months this time.
She has so much anxiety with everything. She is 14.
Just wondering about the two meds together. She is currently on IV rocephin and she is going to add Tindimax for cyst breaker about 3 days per week. Being also on rifampin, I don't want to add the 4 Mepron all together. She is right now on amox abx for strep but will be off that soon.
She gets sick so easily.I am so worried about her.

Hi lyme4,
I am sorry your daughter is having a difficult time. I have not been on Rifampin, only Mino, doxy, and treatment for Babesia. Hopefully others who have used this combo will comment.
I hope she feels better soon.

My doc wanted to put me on rifabutin (similar to rifampin) AND Mepron + Zith (treating primarily for Babesia)
I looked the interactions up and was concerned when I found this: "Combination of rifabutin and atovaquone may result in reduced serum concentrations of atovaquone by 34% ; Combination of rifampin reduces atovaquone levels by approximately 50%;
Who is your doc? (you can send a personal message) I wonder if it's the same doc,,,in NC?
