Is there a standard or close to standard course of treatment with Flagyl??????

I started out taking 500 mg Flagyl twice daily. It was not uncomfortable or difficult at all for me, unlike many other abx I've tried.
Later, when I switched around my other abx, I started pulsing Flagyl 5 days on, 2 days off.
And then my LLMD attended the ILADS conference, where it was suggested that pulsing two weeks on/two weeks off was effective treatment and easier on the body.
And then after 11 months of being on Flagyl, I switched to Tindamax because of concerns over abx resistance. And I'm now doing the two weeks on/two weeks off.
So...no, there's no "standard" way of prescribing, I guess.

thanks all, I also start over the holidays with 250 mg twice a day. What binders are you taking. I can't take bentonite and cholestyramine.

WildCondor says 1,500 - 2,000 mg daily. This needs to be paired with 3,000 mg of Biaxin, 2,000 mg of Ceftin daily, and Bicillin shots weekly.

Good luck surviving that.

Doc gave me 250 mg 3 times per day. It did the trick for me.
Had a 1-week herx starting about day 3. It was 3 days of feeling bad and 4 days of feeling half bad.
Doc had me drink lots of water with fresh lemons squeezed into it. That lessens the herx because lemons are a natural cleanser, also the water.
Highly recommend you do this throughout your lyme treatment. Makes things much more bearable.

Springshowers,
did you take Flagyl for the Fry mystery bug or for lyme? What was your improvement after two months? Energy?

it's actually 1,500-2,000 mg of Biaxin with 3,000 mg Ceftin and 2,000 mg of Flagyl plus Bicillin shots.

Sorry WC. I made a mistake. I was trying to visualize the buggers dying more gruesomely. Why not toss in 6 TBSP of Mepron for good measure?
