Hopeful,
Happy Belated Birthday,,,I am always a day late and a buck short!!
If you wanna releive the tenseness of carpal tunnel do this ....
Take your left hand in front of you and palm out. Take right hand and push backwards your left fingers to the limit and hold for a bit,,,now reverse and do same with other hand. Simple little trick my carpal tunnel surgeon taught me,,,either that or my ortho doc. Doesnt matter,,,it sure works.
Now repeat every little bit all day long and you stretch out that nasty ligament that gets too short and thats what causes carpal tunnel.
When they do the surgery all they do is find the ligament, stick there sharp knife down there, Cut and let it snap apart as far as it will,,,and let it grow back together. Thats ALL they do,simple enough,,,stretch it out yourself and save the surgery.
Since I had mine sliced and diced they did start doing 'scope' surgery instead,,,not nearly as invassive and not near as much healing and recoup, time required.
Have an even happier birthday,,,do the 'simple' excercise and save the surgery bill and pain. I do them all day every day,,,you can too!!being--just don--

Did someone mention chocolate cake? Happy belated birthday Hopeful. Here's a little tip (gift) for that nasty carpal tunnel.
Buy some 'sea bands'. These are elastic bands with a hard plastic piece that goes on your wrists for motion sickness.
I had really bad carpal tunnel from improper weight lifting. Went thru retraining on how to hold hands to do various tasks and had to wear splints but still had pain when I used my hands.
Went on an ocean fishing trip and since I get seasick I bought the 'sea bands. Low and behold, no pain the entire day.
I'm thinking it took the pressure off the median nerve and my inflammation finally went away.
I still have some ten years later. Anytime I do some heavywork I wear them.
Hope this helps.

meg, monica and doc dave
thanks for wishing me happy birthday.
the balloons i received from a friend at work are STILL going strong so i consider this to be a good omen and that i am STILL having a birthday. my mind is a little screwy and i hope that will lessen. i am in awe of the people who have their sh*t together. i say if you have any left over sparks of clarity, energy or grace, please pass it along.
