Hello, I'm a 27 year old female who has been dealing w/lyme, bart, and babesia for a few years now. I've made great strides and my Dr want me to get reconditioned.
He gave me a prescription for PT, but said to try and find one that deals more w/athletes. I've done PT in the past and it wasnt very helpful. I'm at the point now where I can do weights and strength training etc (not just stretching type things)
Does anyone have any recommendation for this type of PT in the central NJ area-- If anyone knows someone who's worked with lyme patients before that would be great!!

- Is this your LLMD? Or your regular doctor.
Your LLMD should have some names of LL PT. I would NEVER, EVER see a PT who is not ILADS-educated and lyme literate. I had horrible errors from those who did not know enough.
I hope you can get some good names from people here.
You might also ask your local lyme support group leader / members for good PTs. If no luck there, find the CFS support group and ask for any PTs who have helped them.
While CFS can be undiagnosed stealth infection such as lyme, Cpn, etc., if a PT understands CFS, they are more likely able to wrap their head around what lyme can do to a body and the unique methods required for rehab.

- Some insurance policies require faster improvement with PT than what many with lyme can muster.
If you feel pressured to meet the PT goals with benchmark improvements for each visit,
you might better enjoy and benefit from a "restorative" yoga class, or certain styles of Tai Chi, Qi Gong - or a Pilates class to match your needs. -
