Yeah -- maybe we could get Mr Steere and Co to contribute a song. How about:

There's no business like Lyme business,
like no business we know.

Everything about it we're concealing,
everything the market will allow.

Nowhere could you get our smirky feeling,
when we are taking your final bow.

There's no people like our people,
our guile, when we are foe.

Even with our guidelines that we know are mold,
that keep you stranded out in the cold,

Still we wouldn't change them - got our sack of gold --
Let's go on with our blow.

Actually......

All three of my sons have lyme. They all play instruments and are in a band together.

Guess what the name of their band is......

"The Color of Lyme"

Cool huh.

Here is where they have some of their music and their logo:

(To the tune of Hotel California...)

On a dark desert highway,
so full of despair,
Pain wracking my body
`cuz I'm having a flare.
Up ahead in the distance,
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim.
I had to stop for the night.

A doctor stood in the doorway,
might as well have been a cell,
And I was thinking to myself,
"Man, have I really been put through h*ll".
When the Western Blot came back,
I thought I'd found the way.
But there were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel Ducksville.
Such a scary place,
I saw Shapiro's face.
Plenty of room at the Hotel Ducksville.
Any time of year, you can find it here.

Their minds are totally twisted,
they make you hit dead-ends.
They got a lot of rich and pretty boys
that they call friends.
How they dance in the courtrooms,
making the good docs sweat.
Putting on the pressure,
full of nasty threats.

So I called up my LLMD,
"I need my Rocephin fix."
He said, "We haven't had that treatment here
since two thousand six."
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel Ducksville.
Such a scary place...
I saw Wormser's face.
You'll catch your death at the Hotel Ducksville.
They are so full of lies, these ducks I despise.

My insurance called me -
"Two weeks of meds is enough time."
And I said "We are all just prisoners here,
of this thing called Lyme."
Then in the E.R. chambers,
The ducks gathered `round the keets.
They stab them with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beasts.

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the health I had before.
"Relax," said the IDSA,
"We are programmed to deceive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!"

I visited your son's page.

music sounded really good.

The graphic was cool too.

I hope they are well enough to play when they want.

I know how difficult this disease can make engaging in one's creative endevors.

Cave, the lymenutters would greatly appreciate the possible donation of the "ticks suck" audio tape to the newly-burgeoning Lyme Hits CD.

In addition to its appropriate topic and prior touring success, a poor quality taping will certainly assist with the nothing plus nothing equals nothing equation.

Also, we could let our eager public know that we have multiple CDs in the works, but we'll just list the titles for now, since I think they also get the point across.

So we are now putting out a call for song title lists that could benefit the cause...

Thanks for your kind words Azure,

They have been on abx for about 2 years, and are getting alot better. But its been a rough few years. But they are grateful that they can all play (I think it actually takes their mind off of things)

They write their own music and my one son sings. Double click on the song "Message" you can hear it.

They are actually in the process of writing a song about lyme disease and the struggles everyone has to go through.

Their grandfather actually came up with their band name (he has LD also) But my son designed the logo (a lyme with tick legs and a bio-hazard sign) I think it looks kinda cool. [Big Grin]

I am very proud of them.

my gosh all this musical talent the likes
i've never seen.

this album could go triple platinum or
maybe triple mercury.

gosh we already have enough songs to fill the first cd.

now we need the second cd.

we could send steere a free copy to him ,nih and cdc.
will have to throw one in for the IDS also.

so this is what happens to people with lyme .
they sit in bed all day thinking up songs about lyme &steere.

you people should all be getting better on your single dose of doxycycline.
how come non of you are better?????

Hey that could be another title for album 2:

"HOW COME WERE NOT BETTER" [group hug]

stymie, thx so much for steereing us all in the right direction. Maybe they'll think we're all barbourians on this site...

Ok, for our 2nd CD, today, HOW COME WE'RE NOT BETTER, here's a song in the making:

The first line is: "My single dose of doxy", to be followed by three more lines of your choosing.

Then we can have our first Lymenuts Lymenet Flash Discussion Medical Questions group song.

Here's my offering:

My single dose of doxy,
Don't think it set me free.
It really feels quite boxy,
This coffin, Lyme and me.

Lisi:
i think we'll give your kids the copyrights to all the songs written by the lymenuts.

they can compose and sing and who knows maybe we realy can make a cd.

but no money to steere orIDS only
LDA or ILADS ok!!!!!!!!

maybe we can get a top ten hit.
we can give the best song to the fox reporter and he can run with it fox.

tony: pluuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!
i wanna come kick you in the aws.
man the eagles stink,
i can now be a tampa bay fan right.
i gave up all my rights today for the eagles.

the eagles song is great by the way.
may have to be our lead song.

BTW don't we have anything better to do?????
aren't we suppose to get people better here???
our ducks can't.

this is for moral support i guess we all need some, every so often!!!

I almost typed lymenut.org for the url...

stymie, this is aural support.

Q - stymie and tonyz, could you post your song versions here for Me And My Shadow, and Till There Was You, so we could read them on this burgeoning site?

They are the original 2 song versions that inspired our fundraising efforts today for ducktor steere and his duckpond and I think folks would enjoy reading them here.

Also, I think we may need to consider hiring an accountant soon for the growing CD collection. Do put in the job description that we're holistic in our thinking and don't get much past the number 0.

Reposted-- despite a lack of popular demand!

To the tune of "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head"

Spirochetes keep falling on my head

And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his

bed

Nothing seems to fit

Those

Spirochetes keep falling in my head, they keep falling...

But there's one thing I know

The blues they send to meet me

Won't defeat me!

It won't be long before Zithromax (substitute favorite tx) steps up to relieve me...

Sorry guys, stymie and cave and tony inspired me and I had to share yet again in the all-Lyme musical review

We could be planning merchandise to go along with the music.

I like your idea of giving away tick-removal tweezers and two weeks free abx to customers.

How about giving away small snack packages of our favorite spiral foods, like spiral pasta and cooked bacon, to be known as Lymebits?

back for its second performance:

Me And My Shadow"
(feat. Jonathan Wilkes)

[spoken]
[Robbie: (american accent)] Johnny and Robbie
[Jonathon:] What you talking like that for, you're from Stoke!
[Robbie:] I dunno but I can't stop here pally

Like the wallpaper sticks to the wall
Like the seashore clings to the sea
Like you'll never get rid of your shadow(LYME)
You'll never get rid of me

Let all the others fight and fuss(LYMENET)
Whatever happens, we've got us.

(Me and my shadow)
We're closer than pages that stick in a book
We're closer than ripples that flow in a brook
(Strolling down the avenue)
Wherever you find him(BB), you'll find me, just look(BUT DON'T RUN ANY TESTS)
Closer than a miser or the bloodhounds to Liza

Me and my shadow (ME & LYME)
We're closer than smog to all of L.A.
We're closer than Ricky to confessing he's gay??
Not a soul can bust this team in two(ME & LYME)
We stick together like glue

And when it's sleeping time(WITH LOTS OF PILLS)
That's when we rise(VIAGRA NECESSARY)
We start to swing
Our clocks don't chime
What a surprise
They ring-a-ding-ding!
Happy New Year!(MAYBE NEXT YEAR)

(Me and my shadow)
And now to repeat what I said at the start
They'll need a large crowbar to break us(LYME &ME) apart
We're alone but far from blue(ANTIDEPRESSANT HELP THIS)

Before we get finished, we'll make the town roar
We'll hit a few late spots, and then a few more
We'll wind up at Stringy's and maybe grab show
Life is gonna be we-wow-whee!(YEH RIGHT)
For my shadow and me!

[spoken]
[Jonathon:] Can we do that again
[Robbie:] No, I'm too tired(WHAT A SURPRIZE)
[Jonathon:] Please Rob
[Robbie:] No, I'm swung out
[Jonathon:] I'll give you some money(IF I HAD ANY LEFT)
[Robbie:] I don't need money
[Jonathon:] What about a cup of tea(YEH TINCUPS FORMULA)
[Robbie:] Not thirsty(WITH 2 GALLONS A DAY OF COURSE NOT)
[Jonathon:] I'll won't tell anyone you're gay.
[Both Laugh](NO GAY BASHING,THERE WELCOME HERE TOO!)

Before we get finished, we'll make the town roar
We'll hit all the late spots, and then a few more
We'll wind up at Stringy's and maybe grab show
Life is gonna be we-wow-whee!
For my shadow and me!

THIS SONG SHOULD BE CONVERTED FOR LYME THEME SONG.
docdave

and z-man's

Ther were bells on the hill but I never heard them ringing

No I never heard them at all till there was lyme!
(tinnitis)

There are birds in the air but I never see them winging

I can hardly see them at all(floaters) since there was lyme!

And there were street lights
wonderful magical streetlights that glare(photosensativity)

and music that blares (audiosensativity)

and people that stare!

When I miss my chair(muscle weakness and uncoordination)

since there was lyme!

We could have an online silent auction fundraiser for duckpond and company. Everyone can bid very quietly for advance Lymenut CDs. The starting/ending bid is $00.00, which should make for very easy participation.

One more idea, and then I'm off to work on a Lyme musical!

Was just thinking -- the Lymenuts, the Lymebits, the Lymenutters -- kinda sounds like 50s groups.

What if we had Lyme songs in the styles of the various decades -- how early?, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s Lyme infection songs. Name of this CD: Lyme through Time.

It's for real -- people report getting bitten all through these years, seemingly most not knowing until much later what was going on at the time.

And don't forget Disco Duck.

Wish I had an image of that one.

And the LLMD brigade to the rescue! Would make a good opera....

cavey: you know $.01 is naster to give someone than nothing.

i want the bid to start at 1 cent and no higher.

should we get costumes also.
we can get those old coke comercial costumes
with the lyme in the coconut.
we can even use that as another song:
"put the lyme in your throat you nut(steere)
and swish it all around"

Oh, Vermont, we're making progress here. Today we started with one Lymenut CD, with generous contributions pouring in!

Then we heard about a family Lyme band and an llmd "Ticks Suck" audio tape.

Now we're planning multiple Lymenutter CDs, considering hiring an accountant, planning merchandise and offering an online silent auction to raise funds for steere's duckpond.

I'm off to do a Lyme musical, and now yes, you suggest a Lyme opera. Maybe we could call it "It's Opera-tick" for now?

So far Vermont has suggested a lead character, disco duck, with I guess a chorus of ducks, and maybe another chorus of llmds to the rescue, and we need some more character and plot ideas to flesh out the opera, please...

Thank you Stymie for kicking off a highly entertaining day!

Wow, imanurse -- that's some cover! -- makes me hungry -- are you an artist, by any chance?

Hey, our little starting efforts today could turn out some good stuff!

Texas, was thinking about your Hotel California song -- great job. The first chorus line, was wondering about it mimicking the 4-syllable California word for easier singing.

First ideas: Welcome to the Hotel ala Duckville; Welcome to the Hotel, called The Duckville; Welcome to the Hotel, call it Duckville.

What do ya think?

No, I would not consider myself an artist. I have a nice graphics program but know very little about it. But I do enjoy scrapbooking!

disco ducks

dumbsh!t dumbsh!t ducks
I don't need more dumbsh!t ducks

dumbsh!t dumbsh!t ducks
IDSA hires dumbsh!t ducks

and then there was

I've got lyme under my skin

I've got lyme deep in the heart of me

because of ducks you're really a part of me

I've got lyme under my skin

I've got lyme under my skin

I've got lyme in every part of me

In tendons ligaments and cartilige

I've got lyme under my skin

The ducks say take two and come what may

At the risk of killing us all

but they're all paid by Hmo's and IDSA

So our backs are against the wall

we've got a petition for washington

and a bill or two in the air

but they're all paid off by big pharmaceutical

I doubt if they even care

Meantime my thoughts keep a spinnin

and floaters are wing'in

and people all round think I'm weird

They can't see my pain, twitches or hear the noise

That repeats and repeats in my ears

Oh my Gawd I hope I can win

cuz I've got lyme under my skin

Whew....

I'll do the other one tomorrow...nite nite(or good morning)

Those are great you guys. My kids officially think I'm crazy. I have been laughing my head off while reading this at 5:30 AM! I needed that. My brain is too fuzzie from starting Art. to play along, though.

Can I join in? BTW...I loved the "disco ducks" comment! LOL.

Here's my donation to the cause to the tune of They Call The Wind Mariah):

Way out west when the sun goes down

A lizard goes a huntin'

And while it hunts, all keets are killed

and they call the cure melatonin.

Yes, they call the cure melatonin.

Melatonin has an indole bond

That bond is easily broken

And when it breaks, nitro's released

and they call the cure melatonin.

Yes they call the cure melatonin.

But we don't make enough it seems

to do what that lizard can

so we have to find another way

to release that healing nitro.

To release that healing nitro.

For when that nitro is released

It joins with lonely oxy

And it is that bond

that does the trick

To destroy that darn infection.

To destroy that darn infection.

Transylvania Tick (sung to Monster Mash)

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld and eerie sight
For my tick from his petrie began to crawl
And suddenly to my surprise

(chorus)
He did the dash
He did the spirochete dash
the spirochete dash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the dash
It was endemic in a flash
He did the dash He did the spirochete dash.

From my laboratory in Duck U east
To the faculty cafeteria where the vampires feast
The Ghouls all came for their lavish abodes
To get a pinch from my electrodes

Chorus

The zombies were drawing near
The Party was something to fear,
The guests included Wormser,
Shapiro and Steere

Chorus

Out from his coffin,Steere's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and shook his fist
And said "Whatever happened to my Transylvania Tick?

Chorus

Now everything's cool, Steere's part of the band
And my sphirocite dash is endemic in the land
For you the living, this dash was meant too
When you get to Death's Door,
tell them Steere sent you.

And a special track for the kiddies too:

(To the tune of I'm a Little Teapot)

I'm a 'lil spirochete, long and curly,
Here is my OspC and here's my flagella.

When I get all steamed up
Here me shout,

I'm going in to cyst form and not coming out!

THIS OLE TICK

This ole tick, he played one
He played tick-whack on my thumb
With a tick-tack, icky whack
Leave the dog alone!
This ole tick came crawling home.

This ole tick, she played two
She played tick-whack in my shoe
With a tick-tack, icky whack
Leave the foot alone!
This ole tick came crawling home.

This wee tick, she played three
She played havoc with my knee
With a tick-tack, icky whack
Leave the joint alone!
This wee tick came crawling home.

This our tick, he played four
He played tick-whack, now I'm sore
With a tick-tack, icky whack
Leave the world alone!
This our tick came crawling home.

This f***ed tick, it played five
It played tick-whack, now I writhe
With a tick-tack, icky whack
Leave the f*** alone!
This f***ed tick came crawling home.

This black tick, it played six
It played tick-whack for its fix
With a tick-tack, icky quack
Get the ducks alone!
This black tick came crawling home.

This sole tick, it played seven
I don't wanna go to heaven
With a tick-tack, icky whack
Leave us all alone!
This sole tick came crawling home.

This ole tick, he played eight
He played tick-whack on my pate
With a tick-tack, icky whack
Leave the cat alone!
This ole tick came crawling home.

This nymph tick, she played nine
She played tick-whack in my spine
With a tick-tack, icky whack
Leave the bone alone!
This nymph tick came crawling home.

This last tick, it played ten
I've been bitten once again
With a tick-tack, icky whack
Leave the dog alone!
THIS LAST TICK CAN GO ON HOME!!
