Last year over 78,000 cars entered the Toyota Sponsafier contest. Our Lyme Disease Awareness car came in 15th place (with almost 8,000 votes) and remained on display for a couple of months where it was seen by countless people!
Cars with the highest numbers of votes in the first round this year will be featured again in the final round where they will be displayed even more prominently.
Our theme this year is ``Get it Right, Treat the Bite!'' We want to encourage people to think about Lyme disease when they are bitten by a tick and to seek medical care immediately.
Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Ehrlichia, Bartonella and a host of infectious organism can be found in ticks, so why wait? After all, prevention is the best medicine!
This year our driver is Michael Waltrip- two time winner of the Daytona 500. With him behind the wheel and you at the voting pole each day, we should do quite well!
Be sure to click on the 3-D view of the car and see the tribute to Dr. Charles Ray Jones (on the roof).
Our Lyme Disease Awareness efforts this year are dedicated to Dr. Jones and his wonderful staff for all they do to help the children who suffer with chronic Lyme and tick borne diseases.
We are also celebrating Dr. Jones 82nd birthday this month- March 14, 2011. If you don't know Dr. Jones' story please visit the site dedicated to him, his staff and his precious kids.
Aside from raising Lyme awareness across the internet, the winning car (grand prize) will be featured at the 2011 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race this summer where it can be seen by millions of fans via television coverage and news reports.
The winner will also receive a prize package of Toyota Racing Gear and be honored with a visit from a (real) NASCAR driver.
Should our car win, all prizes will be donated to individual(s) dealing with chronic Lyme disease.

For the record... the car was approved and I got the official email on Thursday evening at 6:33 PM. The note I got from them said ...
"Congratulations! Your Sponsafier design, LYME DISEASE AWARENESS, has been officially approved!
You now have 15 days to rally as many votes as you can. It's not that much time, so be sure to sign in soon and share your design on Facebook, Twitter and wherever else you think it will get noticed."
I got the websites updated and the first announcements out by email and posted on here about 10:30 PM.
So.... our "24 hour period" would run approximately from 10:30 PM to 10:30 PM each day.
Each day we should record the total number of votes at 10:30 so we can watch them climb.

Votes now stand at 237. I voted yesterday and today and sent out to everyone on my email list.
The car is great, good job and nice tribute to Dr J on the roof.

BUT... If we are going to have a chance to win, each person voting daily now needs to find at least 5 more people to cast their votes. And that is a minimum!
Can you do it?
Can you keep voting and share the original announcement below with others? Facebook, Twitter, friends at school and work? The more who know, the faster we go toward Racing Lyme Disease Awareness!!!

We only have about 50 more votes to get in 15th place!!!
Hope by the time I get up tomorrow we are on page 3 instead of page 4!
That assures us many more views for racing Lyme Awareness!

I think as it climbs we can get more people excited about voting too..
lets just hope the competition does not have the same momentum
it seems there are like 4 cars still active getting good votes above the Lyme Car
the rest of the top 15 are done with votes so we are battling with like 4 others to reach 7000 Votes
the thing I find strange is the home page says 7 days left to vote
but the car page says 15.
I wonder if the entire event ends in 7 days?
this just seems a little strange... but pressing on regardless.

The contest for some may be over in 7 days, but each car has 15 days from the time the car was accepted. There is a designated time period (buried in the rules) that has a table of dates to follow.
Last year the winning car had LOTS more than 7,000 votes and cars can still be entered before the deadline. I'll bet the old posts are here, let me look.
We were in 15th place with almost 8,000 votes... so we ned to just keep climbing as much as possible to have a big cushion.

When it says the contest is over in 7 days, 6 days, etc, it means March 20 is the last day to enter new cars. But everyone's car gets 15 days of voting, meaning April 6 (15 days after March 20) is the last day for voting in this first phase.
Which means...if anyone's feeling creative and wants to make a car design, it's fun to do - just let us know - Paul's got quite a votin' gang... lol
Paul - it started in February.

Here is the way they determine the finalists. It isn't JUST votes.
Finalist Selection: During the Finalist Selection Phase, qualified judges selected by Sponsor in its sole discretion (the "Qualified Judges") will review and judge all Designs according to the following criteria (the "Judging Criteria"):
Originality of the Design when compared to other Designs (20%);
Feasibility of the Design to be applied to a two-seater NASCAR show car (20%);
Creativity demonstrated by the application of user-uploaded images and/or pre-loaded Sponsafier graphics to the Design to the Design (20%);
Ability of the Design to inspire consumers (20%);
and Public Appeal (20%).
Subject to the entrant's compliance with these Official Rules, the ten (10) entrants with the highest-scoring Designs will be deemed potential Finalist Prize winners and will advance to the Public Voting II Phase.

Sorry I missed your posts in between mine. I was busy thinking. HA!
Bird brain (remember that is what I called you last year during the races)...
Thanks for answering Paul's questions.
And yes, we are now on the 3rd page!!! 15th place!
HOLY COW!!!
Hey Tu Tu... you got a cow picture?
I'm heading to bed gang... so keep the tank full and the tires in good shape. I think we will be doing some REAL good racing tomorrow!
And thanks!
Oh... gotta tell you this. Too cute!
I was with my darling little grand daughter the other day and as you know, keeping up with a two year old IS challenging.
To keep her occupied and me not walking another MILE up the dirt road pulling a wagon with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and her rock, a sea shell and a quarter in it...
I put her in the car and let her "drive" it.
Of course I had the keys in my pocket and it wasn't running, but she didn't know any better.
I turned up the music loud, which she loves, and taught her to stand up behind the wheel and lean her little shoulder into the steering wheel so the horn would beep.
Then I would wave my arms when the horn beeped and say loudly...
"Get out of the way! Get out of the way!"
When I was leaving late that night to go home I tooted the horn for a good bye to the family when I was out at the end of the driveway.
My son told me the next day the little girl was outside with him when I left and beeped the horn ... and when I beeped he heard her say ...
