OK here goes, When I first started dating Roy (Mel Jr., as Tincup likes to call him), my kids were 4 and 5 (and 5), they were not allowed to answer the door unless they new who was there. Roy worked for State Parks had a Smokey Bear belt buckle and they would look through the mail slot in the door and thats all they could see, they would yell, "the Rangers here".
I know Smokey is not California's State Park Mascot, but we adopted him anyway. Our whole family is very fond of him.

Oh, if you are interested, the little fish I put behind my name, indicates I'm a Christian!

Bet you can't guess why I'm called this. When mom (Smokey) was in the hospital last Sept. people were asking about her. So, I decided in order to try and keep you all updated I would create my own screen name. Smokey's cub was just appropriate. April

Being from the Jersey shore and a huge Bruce Springsteen fan , I wanted to be JerseyGirl, but I'm trying to keep my name the same for several of the boards that I post to. And to make a short story even longer, JerseyGirl was already taken , so I added my first initial.

I'm in law enforcement and many years (and many pounds) ago I had to have a nickname for radio communications to go with my assigned radio number (855). A co-worker told me "you have stormy weather legs...the kind you want to see clear up"! Well using the association of legs to wheels, somehow the nickname evolved. I was also told it was an appropriate nickname because I used to drive really fast. By the way I married the co-worker!

I'm Dave. I'm happy that I ran into you folks to help me challenge this sucky disease (without whom I'd still be duck-fodder, and probably in some hospital, with all my posessions pawned...). And I'm carless, since neither my conscience nor my coffers will permit me to have or use cars.... So, put it all together and leave out a few letters here and there, and you get, "HaplyCarLessDave, or "HappyCarFreeDave", I think it is, if I'm visiting my brother and have something to say... DaveS

I was married for 25 years. When we seperated, I got jobs potting up plants and being a chef - for 8$ an hour. I later applied to an Inn and learned how to make beds and shine bathrooms. That paid better, and I went out on my own after a bit, shining bathrooms and taking care of peoples houses. Since I am a Buddhist, it seemed dharma had a hand in this, thus, dharmacleaning.

Hi You Guys! I've been off a while 'cause I moved cross country (west to east).
I chose mine 'cause my nickname, when I was a kid, was Sass, or variations on that name (e.g., Sassy, Sass-ay, Sassafrass, and, as my big brother so gently would put it, "Sassafrasswiththebigfat. . . ." -- even though I was skinny! You know how big brothers are).
On the outside I was a little angel, made good grades, etc., etc. but those who knew me best gave me this nickname. I was a bit of a smarty pants, kind of sassy, hence the name.
My last name begins with "O" so I just picked SassO 'cause the old nickname still makes me chuckle.
It's been fun reading about everyone's name!

Too out of it at the time to realize this was supposed to be a pen name, not real name. The crowd I work with would say "couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel!"

Well - I really loved this question by LymeToo because everyone has such great names on here. Mine is the simple unthoughtly type - my name - Cyn - short for Cyndie (not Cynthia) but everyone just calls me Cyn. Im not very good at coming up with names and the only nickname I ever had was Swintz - uh..dont ask.
Tincup - Although It has been made perfectly CLEAR that you have Friday night dibs on Mel .... I wont tell you that in my hometown circle of friends I have had dibs on Mel for years... but ok ok.. I am not the competative type you can have him.. so I will share a bit of info with a fellow mel fan.... He is looking for a house cleaner. Do you clean??? I was thinking about going to knock on his door and apply - except I hate cleaning!!! PS (I know right where he lives.. want to dress up as maids and go trick or ... treating????)HA HA

Ha - this was a great distraction from the work I'm not doing!!!
I picked my name because when I was in college and rodeoing - I always had my CB radio on. One day some truckers were talking about the "girl in the pickup w/ the pony tail" because I was pulling my horses in the horse trailer and I also was wearing my hair in a ponytail!!!
I started using it for my CB "handle" and it's stuck w/ me thru the years.
Plus it's much better than the nickname my best friend gave me in high school - "scary sherry"!!!
I hope to see more of these!!!

I chose Autumn Sunset because it is the name of my favorite climbing rose. I am a gardener and spend most of my "down time" reading through gardening catalogs and that particular flower always brings me joy on my worst of days. It is a beautiful yellow, and the buds are peach before opening, and I wanted something to bring a little sunshine to my days here reading all these posts about this terrible disease we all share. My name, It happened so fast, I didn't realize I was going to be Nancys, I would've really have liked to chosen Buffie becaue I weight lift. Or, perhaps "Painted Rabbit" that's because WildCondor helped me get intouch with the spiritial side of me, my artitistic side.
I enjoyed reading all the names.

Mine is not overly exciting, like some others, just initials. The unique part about mine is it always reminds me of my mother. I come from a family of 9 kids. My mother named us all starting with the letter J. When she was mad at one of us, she could never get the name out (I guess it was a sorting thing in the mind that took time to process which one she was yelling at), so she would yell with just the first letters Ja Ja.......we all fit the "mold" with our name and we always knew which one she was yelling at!!!

I chose perplexed because this disease is so puzzling and can be mind boggling. It changes day to day and has everyone baffled.. the medical community, the patients, the CDC, the labs and just everyone. It's a very perplexing disease.....therefore I am perplexed.

Hay everyone, My screen name was my CB handle way back when i was growing up in New Mexico, given to me by an old friend who went by Little Hawk. I've always been riding and roping and kicking up dust and dirt on horseback so she decided to call me Sodbuster. I still live up to my old handle......

My name is a book title ; book was purchased at a yard sale; has not been read yet. I felt the green stood for lyme green and the darkness is how one feels when they need to find out what's wrong. Even after they do find out they are still in the dark,if you get my drift--a lot of ducks out there--I run into them all.

Oh, sigh. I really wanted to come up with a cool penname, but the day I signed on, I was in total brainfog, and I just REALLY wanted to sign on. I sat here so long thinking, my computer disconnected. So I ended up just putting down my real name.
The only other things I could think of are what I am usually called from day to day: Ma, Grammy, Sis, DA. Somehow just not quite right. And there is no way I'm going to reveal any of the ten thousand nicknames I've accummulatd over the years!
Love seeing others fun names and the meanings behind them. What a fun thread!

I was filling out the paperwork at my ISP and the guy asked me what I wanted for a log on name. I was busy filling out the paperwork and I guess I didn't answer him fast enough, he said 'Most people use their family name'. I said "My family is dysfunctional". I've been dysfun ever since.

thought i posted to this a long time ago, but i'm not here. well i'm usually not all here, so why is this a suprise?
Caryn is just an abbreviation of my full name carolyn. called carrie for short when i was a child. i answer to every variation of my name. my mom called me lynda. major lyme brain and wasn't feeling very creative when i came up with it.
my other email address is bearkitten60. needed a yahoo account to get emails from the P.O.L.K. website. bear was short for panda bear, my hymilain (i can't spell anymore!) cat's name. kitten because we were going to get a kitten. all easy to remember stuff. but to my suprise, someone had already snagged bearkitten, so i had to add the year of my birth.

Wish I was born in 77--but it is when I graduated from Duke and got married! Makes me an old lymer!

You know, after all of this, I was talking to my neice on the phone. She is 21 now, and about 2 years she was in an auto accident that almost killed her and left her with closed head brain injuries. Though she is getting better, it is likely that she will never fully recover, and her life will be much different than it might have been. Yet, she has never lost her lively spirit. I just love talking to her.
Of course, with my own version of brain fog, I started to say something to her and got it all turned around and garbled, and I said that sometimes I felt like I had "cheese for brains". She laughed so hard at that and said she was going to steal it from me.
Ever since, I've been adding it after my name when I post (when I remember!). It just makes me smile every time when I think of the joy it brought my neice when I said that about myself! Maybe someday I'll make it my official screen name.

Posted to this a long time ago too!!!I'm an old lymie who has come back missing everyone! When I was extrememly sick and down with Lyme the first few months I was sitting on my bathroom floor. I could hardly walk at the time and would stay there feeling so sick. I looked up and saw two ladybugs on the wall. I couldn't figure out how they got in because the window was one of those sealed windows. They made my day and for once got my mind off the herxing. The name stuck.S is for my first name- Sheryl.
